Also looked underneath, still has the U-bend. Thats the most retarded piece of exhaust I've EVER seen.... And further back it has 2 SLP mufflers. Small win =]

Started pulling the motor/trans out of the gtp. Flipped the dogbones while I was at it. Got a couple mounts off and a few sensors before it started raining. Also discovered the SC pulley has about 1cm of play. New SC coupler ordered. New radiator came in along with the 4t65e-hd trans rebuild dvd and manual.

Also the bolt that holds the cross brace in at the strut tower snapped while I was trying to loosen it. Broke my 13mm socket also. Should I drill and tap the bolt?

I also couldnt find much on the lower motor mount.. other than it's a giant PITA. So we'll see how that goes in a couple days.

    Wish me luck!

So just about did as much as I could in 4 hours with the cold, but I feel much was accomplished. All that's left is a couple sensors along the back of the block, the downpipe, AC compressor, PS pump, fuel lines and 1 injector clip I couldn't reach and It'll be ready. Also took off the front bumper cover so I wasnt leaning over so much. The axle nuts didnt give me much hassle at all, which surprised me. I expected a fight there.. Actually for the most part every bolt came out easy. Found some small rust spots around the base of the strut towers. Very minor so I'm going to hit them with a flap wheel then some bedliner. The whole engine bay is going to get bedlined. Well enough of the story, onto the pics...

    About 1 hour into teardown..

    Working the wiring out

Got the throttle body off. Right now we've got the motor strapped forward so it doesnt lean so far back. this was mainly for more clearance up front so I could remove the radiator. 1 trans line was broken during removal of radiator, so I'm opting for aftermarket trans cooler.

Back end of the throttle body. I'll be taking a scotch brite and cleaning that up.

I'm guessing there's more to this than meets the eye. Taking the heads off to be sure. Great time to clean and port the supercharger if you ask me!

Well that's it for now. If anyone has tips on removal/cleaning/install dont hesitate to chime in. This is my first time removing an engine and trans with plans to reinstall later. Only other motor I've pulled was out of a 98 cavalier 2200, and this is worlds different.

I would have taken it out through the bottom, but theres no way I could get the car high enough. So out of the top it goes.

I really wish I could but cash flow is a little low at this point in time. For right now it's an engine clean and trans rebuild project, upgrading whatever I can afford inside the trans.

I just looked at ebay at those headers. They're well priced at around $120 so I think I'll do them so I wont have to fiddle with that rear manifold later on.

Blarg lol. Almost ready to pull the motor still. All that's left is pop the axles. the ball joint castle nut looked like a giant PITA, plus I didn't have anything 18mm. Had to fight with just about everything today. The downpipe bolts were heat rusted on, and the trans mount seems like it just wants to stay on...

The trans mount is just the 3 bolts on the driver side of the trans right? o.O

Slight change in plans. I'd hoped the accords clutch would hold out until I was able to rebuild, but it's been slipping in 5th around 60 @ 1/4 throttle, so I'm picking up a used tranny and throwing it in, and using the one I pull out to do a full rebuild and upgrades on it. Hopefully get it almost as good as a TEP transmission.
