Yeah I actually might have the local shop weld a dp for me and just sell the zzp dp, im waiting on the pictures when he gets home he is going to take some close ups
Good deal.
So I have some really bad news guys tranny is shot great:'(
Wht guy
I guess the transmission seized up and thats what made the pump shaft to snap
I'm pretty damn lost in what parts you stockpiled and what was the ultimate goal as in what was being built/replaced and what was left alone.
Well I thought it was just the pump shaft and converter that needed to be fixed, but I have to call the guy tomorrow I was told the transmission is worse then what I thought and needs to be completely rebuilt or something
A few questions...
Is the trans you planned on using supposedly built or was it the stock trans you got with the new GTP when you bought it?
What happen to the trans from the black GTP?
Its the rebuilt one that came in silver car, and I still have the one from the black car but its really high miles almost at the 200, xxx
Your probably going to predict what I'm going to suggest but...
Why not just use the one from the black GTP meanwhile so you'll have the car to drive w/ the NIC. It was good enough for you when you were driving it back then I'm sure it still has some life left obvious don't drive it like you stole it and hopefully it will last for awhile longer
Then since you'll basically have a core trans have it built overtime when you can afford it. Buy the upgraded parts overtime so it won't be a huge dent in your wallet all at one point in time.
And kind of the reason why certain items I don't buy used because you never really no the condition of it until you really have someone look it over
Yeah its probably what I am going to have to do, really don't want to pull the motor later would like to just get it all done at once. But I will find out tomorrow how much it will be to get it fixed and what needs to be replaced, blah this su€ks lol
It's part of any build lol...**** happens. Just be prepared.
One reason I stop giving myself deadlines lol I just get s**t done when I get to it because something always comes up.
Lol yeah I like deadlines it kinda keeps me on track, but yeah the fun of builds is always the hidden problems that come up
Find out what's actually shot in the trans. What caused the lockup is what I mean. The pump shaft only drives the pump, which pumps the fluid to allow it to work. The pump shaft is driven by the converter. There's nothing actually connected to the pump shaft besides the converter. Sure a pump can go bad, and that can wipe stuff out/cause a lot of debris in the VB/channel plate/converter.
Once a pump goes though.. usually the majority of the parts are good in the trans though. Because w/o fluid it just sits there.
Ok so the transmission pump is no good? He said that went out and that's what caused the pump shaft to snap. Going to give them a call back soon with what I want to do
Ok.. the pump has a small filter basket on it to keep any debris from entering the rest of the trans. A pump and pump shaft will likely fix it right up. Cheap and easy.
Yeah I found one from the guy im getting the other transmission parts 125 shipped, so thats not that bad just need to split thing's up more
