the harness that runs in the trunk lid, mine was pinched, i had no key fob at the time, so i dont know it the truck release was affected. but i had no tail lights or lic plate lights from it for sure. pretty sure the back up lights worked to. that harness plugs into everything in the center tail light section, as well at the truck actuator.

if a wire got pinch this could be the back up lights and trunk problem maybe.

i got lucky, i needed a new center tail light section, found a part out got the tail light, and i took the harness, for the lights, and the trunk. paid 20 bucks for it all, it was another part out win, win day for me. ( morads charges $50 for just the center tail light)

I know you are all hanging on the edge of your seats for the solution. I just followed the diagnostics for the park lock issue and all of the signals and grounds are good and the book says to replace the shifter/BTSI. I'm reading through the diagnostics and will do some tests before swapping shifters. So at least on of these BTSI mechanisms is bad.

I feel pretty confident it's not my PNP switch since I'm getting different problems with different shifters. Also, my PNP switch does not appear to have the same wiring configuration as Bill's writeup shows.

Well, after doing some more diagnostics, it's telling me that my park lock mechanism in the steering column is bad. I'm thinking that I've done something incorrect in this sequence however because the the other BTSI/shifter doesn't have this problem. Also, the BTSI being bad as a possible problem with the park lock malfunction. I'm going to assume that both of these shifters are bad, just in different ways. I'm going to have to find another one to test.

Put in new shifter from the JY. Park lock and key lock mechanisms are now functioning properly.

Found this in the trunk wiring. Fixed all these wires. Reverse lights are not turning on with headlights anymore. I still think I have a ground issue or something though because they do not turn on when the car is in reverse.

I can't believe how much time flies. I've mostly got my little issues figured out. Currently I have 2 wiring/electrical issues. 1st, the reverse lights NEVER work. Honestly I don't really care. I've been able to check a couple of sections for shorts but have not checked them all yet. Other issue is that the 3rd brake light doesn't work. All other brake lights work though, so not worried to much about that either. Will get around to it eventually.

Car is driving great. Over the weekend I decided to make my IC even more obscure.

You can see that I also put the factor air damn back on.

Currently this is how my car looks. Trying to figure out a good solution for the lower window reveals and the rubber strips on the roof that look like ass.
