I went Friday to check out an 04 Comp G... 70k, black, fully loaded... moon roof, premium sound, heated leather seats, dual exhaust, each muffler has really nice dual tips... everything good.
Looked decent under the hood, pretty clean for the mileage. Paint is pretty clean minus some chips and scratches, nothing horrendous... underbody is almost rust free.
Put my Kv5's on it... not sure but it looks like it could be slightly lowered.

I didnt notice it until yesterday, but the windows are actually tinted.. I dont know if there was a factory tint option, it's pretty light but it's definitely there on all windows except the windshield.
I'll get pics tomorrow, havnt had a chance yet... been raining like a ***** all week.

The exhaust sounds amazing, I dunno if it was a special option, I looked and they're both GM mufflers but it sounds so mean.. it's loud enough to be able to hear it idling from across the street and has a very nice, audible rumble under light acceleration and then roars when I get on it.. but it's far from obnoxious and defintitely wouldnt wake anyone up inside their house at night... exactly what I was looking for.

The difference in get-up-n-go from my NA car is awesome, I cant wait til I can open up the flow a little so I can hit the power in the higher rpms better, it sorta tops out at 4k atm.

I ripped out the stock air box and put the cone on it today and took it right out to the interstate and hammered on it... whineeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I fell in love immediately Must... Get... Smaller.. Pulley... Now.

I have my power log from the old car sitting in my garage, and the zzp downpipe... Im gunna put them on, hopefully next week. I need to figure out a day I can let the bolts soak in pb over night and then have time to do the work the next day. I can hear the *****ing already about headers, but I put a big down payment on the car... so while I have this stuff already sitting in the garage and I have little money in the bank... I'll be fine with this, lol.

Tranny fluid and filter are in the near future, gunna go with dex VI after some consideration.
Spark plugs are also at the top of the list, gunna use xp606's for now, if I drop pulleys I'll change heat ranges.
Gunna order an Overkill tune for it and a wideband + aeroforce to watch kr, and then HPtuners in the future so I can use the Overkill tune as a starting point.

I see on ZZP they have a kit with a wideband and the AEM gauge with it for like 200, but if Im getting HPT/Aeroforce, I could just buy the sensor by itself for the 80, right? Dont need the AEM gauge.

Also, I've got only 2 issues that are concerning me at the moment. One is that today I discovered a single drop of water on my back seat, passenger side... I traced it to a slightly wet oh-sh*t handle just above it. It was just a little wet so Im not that worried about it now, but it's obviously a leak somewhere, any typical trouble areas? Im thinking moonroof but I dont know where exactly it would be getting in.

Second, it's only the first time you put it in drive after starting it... there's a little vibration, like a strong cell phone vibration I can feel up the steering column and hear in the front end. It doesnt happen until you start moving, it vibrates once for about 2 seconds, then a second time for just a split second, every time like that and then it goes away until the next time I shut it off and start it. If you start the car, put it in drive stay sitting still for any amount of time, it wont happen until you start moving, and if I stop, put it back in park, then back into drive, it wont do it... gotta shut the engine off and restart it, then put it in drive to recreate it. Doesnt happen for reverse. Doesnt happen under acceleration, either.

    Cool beans.

So you still have to sell your NA or was it a trade?

The noise, vibrate you feel is the ABS module doing a self check of the system, its normal.

Well that would explain it, the old car didnt have ABS or Trac Control...

I traded it, they gave me just about 8k for it.

Sticker price was 9995, I got him to 8k, and honestly I was fine with that price. My monthly payments are way cheaper now than they were before.

awesome car dude, double din radios are better tho =D
Yeah I've been lookin at them and they're nice... I got this radio when I only had a part time job and not a lot of money, couldnt afford a double din... but even though I can now, I just really like this one and not enough desire to change it, lol.

No pics of more than half the car ?

    Needs some tint too!

    Looks clean, enjoy it!!
lol, I took these pics on my phone while I was at work, it was kinda like "Hey I'll brb in, goin outside for a sec... *snap a couple pictures*"
I'll get much better pics on a nice day after I detail it

Well, for now I'll have plog and 3" dp on it since I already have them laying around... I'll probably go full headers eventually if I feel like it.

Gunna get rockers in the future probably, I have no desire to undertake a cam job lol... definitely gunna get an Overkill tune and Aeroforce and wideband o2, gunna pick up hptuners for sure and learn how to tune eventually. As far as go fast parts I think that's where I'll probably leave off, maybe I could drop to a 3.6 pulley or some minor thing like that once I can tune.

For sure gunna get an Inferno Hood, I want the air dam too... Im not a fan of the spoiler though... big spoiler for me = no

I like the small suttle additions, like the Comp G badge on the dash...clean choice of wheels and tips as well, car looks like it was very well taken care of.

Now she just needs some tint
Yeah there's some really light tint on there now, but I could definitely stand for something a little darker. I absolutely love the quad tips and I cant wait to polish them up, they're very dirty in the picture I took. I didnt even notice the dash emblem in the dealership pictures until I actually got in the car, and I liked it immediately lol.

And yeah, it seems like it was really well cared for, the salesman told me it was a car collector's daily driver and he traded it for a corvette.. so if that is indeed the truth... Im happy about that.

    MRANGRYGTP
Your leak might be from the onstar antenna... If you get a drip from your map lights its a leak there for sure... common on our cars..

BTW welcome to the world of the Comp G.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Yeah after I discovered it I did some reading and a lot of people were talking about the xm antenna, which I guess is the same one as the onstar one? The one by the back windshield? Only the back map lights seem to be leaking, the front ones are dry.

    SpeedGrid
Awesome car man. You seem to have received the full package as well such as the quad tips. I have it as well and it makes such an awesome sound for stock.

Hopefully your HUD does not go on yours. My Comp G has similar mileage (73k) when I purchased it and only after three weeks, the HUD went in the full up position. Turns out the spring went through the plastic lever and now is nearly gone unless you look down at a weird angle. It seems to be common with these cars (04+) more so than last generation. Just wanted to give you a heads up. I miss my HUD and plan on getting it replaced since mine broke beyond traditional repair like the whole lever broke with the spring so I will need a whole new unit. It is more of a convenience thing but if mine does or not get fixed I can deal with it. But most likely it will be replaced hopefully.
Yeah I love the tips, and the mufflers sound awesome.. I love grumblin around town now, lol... my old car only made any kind of noise when I was putting my foot down a little.

As for the HUD... it already did, it was actually the very first thing I found wrong with the car when we test drove it. I sat in the seat, noticed the HUD wasnt displayed in the windshield, fiddled with the controls, and I turned to the guy and said Strike 1, lol. He was like huh? I said the HUD is broken... then I had to explain to the salesman what that was, he seriously thought I was jerkin him around until I made him get out and look down into the dash from above and see the projector in there. It was kind of funny, I actually educated him a lot on Grand Prixs cause after that HE was asking ME questions and I was tellin him about the motors and options and functions lol. It made me realize just how much I've actually learned here, cause once I started goin on about these cars, I couldnt shut up, lol.

But yeah, Im hoping it's just the spring with mine, as I've read about in a few How-To's on fixing it yourself. Im just afraid to tear the dash apart.
