Thread: Black Betty (My '97 Grand Prix GTP)

Gave Betty a wash today and figured I'd post a few pictures of my proud work while I wait on her to dry to give her a good detailing.










Also, I repainted the strut tower brace and forward supports a few days ago, so here's a picture taken before I painted the bolts (they're painted now):

The work is far from done of course. There's quite a bit of engine-bay painting that remains. As far as the bumper goes I'm in no hurry to fix that. It's actually clear coated, it's just faded pretty badly (can't be sure if that's even the original bumper). The Pontiac letters of course need redone, and I have the paint, it's just a matter of getting to it on the list. The next project for me is to paint the upper mounts and repaint the fuel rail (the paint is chipping off! :\ ).

personally id focus on external looks before engine bay, gets seen first.

Meh, the car isn't going anywhere this week, so I'm free to work on what needs doing prior to actually driving it around again.

the supercharger snout is kind of a neat idea.

The previous owner actually did that and I've since then touched it up occasionally when it needed it. Credit to him for the idea.

Truly I'm not much on the silver flames either, but it was owner 2 of 5 (including myself as #5) that did that. I wish it was a vinyl. It's paint. Assuming you mean the exhaust as far as tips go, I have future plans for something a little better. On the subject of the center caps, I actually bought the tires/rims from a friend that had them on his Mustang GT. Simply haven't gotten around to ordering Pontiac center caps. I'm thinking about pulling my previous ABS center caps, but I'd rather get some nice black Pontiac ones. At the very least, I might pull the GT center caps, sand them, then paint them black. In no hurry, really.
