He's right. Way easier to sell a stock car vs a modded one
I don't have the time or money for those unfortunately, and I'd want a DD before I get something drastic like bags.
in that case, if you part the car, I may be interested in the bags
Thats true, I would probably part it out. This frustration is just getting the best of me right now. I emailed the guy I got them from and he's trying to help me out right now. He told me they rode smooth when he had them. So maybe that will help some. I also now have a grinding sound when accelerating while turning coming from the driver axle area. So idk if its the axle or wheel bearing or what. I was also going to ask one of my buddies about the bags he just got. He got one of the crafter kits where you use stock top mounts and just measure and weld everything. I could sell these bags but keep the management system and make my own bags. That way I would know exactly what I was dealing with. So I have multiple things to think about. I need to calm down though and not make any decisions while Im frustrated haha
Been there many times. I couldn't tell you how many times I said I was going to sell my car while frustrated with something, but she's still here.
Okay quick question if anyone could maybe help out. I've been thinking about the bouncing issue. I'm sure its a dampening issue and I just need to find the right setting for the psi I want to ride at. But my setup also has 1/2 air line. Now most setups these days come with 1/4 line which makes adjusting to a very specific psi wayyy easier. But I was also thinking, when the bag compresses over bumps in the road, thats just that much air to compress right? I wanted to get 1/4 line, but for right now I was thinking of putting a restrictor fitting pretty close to the bag to make air entering and leaving a bit more difficult. Maybe that would help control air flow a little better resulting in less bounce?? Does this even make sense?
That makes sense, the ride will be a little firmer over the bumps, which is I guess what your going for.
most typical setups will run 3/8" line now. and the line size will just determine how fast you can fill the bag, but your compressor and tank size also plays into this.
the bouncing is probably from running too much pressure and the strut not being able to keep up to control the 'spring'.
I keep trying to lower the pressure and increase dampening to find the right spot but i havent got it yet. And im running the lowest pressure i can without vibration and i even have the spacers
Well I got it to ride pretty smooth, i just needed to lower the pressure a tiny bit more and i adjusted the dampening more. It turns out the struts had more options available and the knob was just a little stuck. But after a lot of thinking, I just want to go back static again for a while. So the front bags came off this afternoon and the back bags and management stuff comes out tomorrow morning. I'll probably go back to bags later on but only when i get some time to take full advantage of the builder kits and just weld up my own struts exactly how I want them. I just dont have that kind of time right now or the extra money. But I'm gonna do some searching and find some nicer coilovers from a different car. I just need to find the same size bottom mounts and i think I can make everything else work fairly easily.
I was looking at 00-03 Maxima Coilovers for a while, they are very similar up front. Rears are different sadly
Just by how the retrofits are put together that would be the best route. If you don't want to gut stock struts they would be pretty simple to make, just a tube, plate, and a 4 of holes.
Well I can't sell the bags anymore. I was playing around with them and the dampening settings with them off the car and 1 is fine, 2 are about blown and 1 of the front ones is completely blown. Explains why it was so bouncy and adjusting dampening didnt help at all... I was just riding on only the airbags for 2 of them. Anyone know if they could be rebuilt? Or do I just have reallyyyy bad luck?

Yea...those need rebuilding
Ok, so not to bad, you found the problem(s)
Get fixed
Mount
Enjoy ride
Watch as people drool over stance
Profit!!!
Thats what I'm hoping for. Im just a little worried if these can even be rebuilt and who would do it. I'll give airlift a call tomorrow
thinking of keeping them after rebuild? rebuilt the ride should be better for ya again.
Yeah I think I might keep them. If anything I at least want to try them out to see how theyre supposed to ride. My guess is that its going to be soooo much better. Then no more headaches after driving somewhere haha. Plus if I keep them, this would be a good oppourtunity to take my time and setup the trunk nicely
If airlift doesn't do rebuilds then contact Koni or Bilstein, they may do other rebuilds.
