Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
Those look really good. I think i was going to go with the same size as the second picture. I'm more worried about the brand of my tires and how they're made. I haven't found much on goodyears being stretched except the F1's. I'm just not sure what type of sidewall I have and if its too stiff/wont stretch nicely, that kind of stuff.
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
Did you remove your fender liners to roll the fronts? I need to finish rolling my fronts for the new wheels, wanted to keep most of the fender liner even though I cut mine up already
VWVortex.com - all you ever needed to know about **stretched tires and poke** but were afraid to ask
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
Yeah I had to take out most of my liner. I was able to keep a small part of it to cover up the inside of the bumper though. And I might try and go back and cover the area where my door hinge is and use zip ties to attatch it somewhere else
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
God I hate super stretched tires.
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
225 on 10s isn't super stretch...215 on 11" is
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
so much win in this thread
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
no for real, a 225 on some 10" wheels when youre dumped on bags is gonna be sex. short enough to drop the car like it's hot when you air out and tall enough to be good to go when youre at driving height.
looooove it.
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
Thank you! I'm so excited to get some tires on there! I think i'm going to go with some 10mm spacers in the back too

Boo goodyears.
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
he would need longer studs.

I need longer studs for 10mm ones?
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
you might not NEED them, but typically over 5mm it's not recommended to use the stock length studs anymore.

Yes you do, I learned the hard way. I thought I was fine with the 10mms but that's how I lost my wheel...
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
IIRC the ARP studs are longer?
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
I found some interesting info about my bags today. Apparently the bags that I have are model number 5813 by airlift and the new equivalent is 50201. In their application guide these bags are used for load support for truck suspension or slamming trucks and have a crazy load rating of like 2200lbs per bag. So I'm thinking that the ride is so bouncy because they're on a relatively light car and maybe some different bags meant for a car would allow for more lowering/raising and ride smoother? I might start to look into this some...
On another note, I haven't sold my wheels yet so no real update
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
stance will make her dance but spool will make her drool
Re: Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance
Stance > spool, don't you know...brah?
