As far as the others New York has by far the strictest tint laws. I dont want to be comming back from the cruise night after having a few pops and get pulled over. In Buffalo all the suburbs are on top of each other. Just going to one cruise night or to the strip might involve dealing with up to nine different police departments that all want to break balls.
Its your car so do as you wish, i just like to give my .2 cents. I hear you about tint laws though, i live in michigan and any kind of front tint is illegal, but the hell with that. Looks > The Law. Lmao, 5% tint FTW besides when i get pulled over.... right after leaving the tint shop, then its FTL.

For anyone who liked my car there is a reall nice 2 door 40th GTP on ebay right now.

Pontiac : Grand Prix GTP 40th Anniversary Edition Pontiac : Grand Prix GTP 40th Anniversary Edition | eBay

Looks like it could use an exterior detail but the inside and under the hood are mint.

Why would you trade your 08 for a 02 GP? There not that rare or expensive or hard to find keep your 08 or sell it then buy a 40th and have money left over.

This. You don't downgrade a 08 anything and trade for a 10+ year old car unless it was something rare like a muscle car, trans am etc something hard to find and that you want.

Sorry should have clarified that is what I plan on just wondering if it would be worth it, the gtp will save me 100 a month compared to the equinox.

I don't but thank you for the info! I will for sure be taking this with me to the dealer ship. The cars interior and exterior are impeccable no scratches no dings no rust and no tears in the leather. Under the hood was very well taken care of, I will digg around in it some more but so far great car. Another positive is I know my way around this engine.
