You can engine swap these cars just not a 3.8

follow what the grand am guys do and 3.4 swap it.
Then top swap the intake and heads from a newer 3.5.
Add a getrag 282 and your set.

thanks, yeah i know about the top swap etc. originally i wanted to but decided it wasnt worth the few hundred bucks LOL.
a getrag would be fun with the 3.4, but the 3.4 has no aftermarket. if i were to swap this car, the only choice IMO is a 3.8.
i have been doing research upon research upon research and it looks like the hardest part would be taking care of the firewall issue with the headers if i were to mod (and yes i know ill want to mod).
ill probably pick up another car to tinker with as this is my DD and it can't go out of commission for a longer period of time.

thanks drunkie. i have advice for anybody that wants to use plastidip. WAIT UNTIL ITS WARM OUT because the spray is very thick and if its cold, it will be hard to manage and even bubble up. i absolutely need to re-do these wheels come springtime.

Very nice car man. Don't sell it!!!! Save up, keep this one...then find a 2nd Gen GTP like you want.

These cars are getting harder and harder to find in nice shape.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357005168.384125.jpg you can swap a 3.8 in these cars me and my buddy are about to do it to his 95 gtp. You just have to use a lumina or monte 3.8 harness and all the mounting holes are there change the right axle out. Do some fuel line modification and a good tune from what I have found its not to bad they say the downpour is a snug fit for headers but some firewall modification or some fancy exhaust making would work.

The firewall has to be beaten like a redheaded step child to fit any 2nd Gen headers lol. But otherwise, the swap isn't super hard. My roommate did it to his 91, a ton of others have as well.
