well this weekend i took possession of the 97GT

now why do i call it Project Frankenstein? well name a year and the car probably has a part lol

the engine is from a '98 or '99 GTP it came out of a 97 GTP coupe that did a barrel role and went end over and smashed into a tree. But it does not have the extra vacuum tree on the supercharger so it was replaced at some point

    the transmission is from a 2001 SE but it's really a 2000 GT 4t65 3.29 final drive

engine bay wiring harness from a 97 GTP sedan

interior is from a 98 GT sedan charcoal to replace the tan. it has a manual drivers seat and map pocket

radio, struts, brakes, rims, and tires are from my old 2001 GT coupe that had progressive rate springs like a regal from the factory part of the fleet conversion avis did

the cat back is a custom made 2 1/4 the res replaced with a glass pack from a 2001 4 door

has a ZZP 1.0, open cone, cat and u-bend delete

how it looked like before the owner left his house

after 300 miles of being on a trailer during a Michigan winter

plans are to rebuild the 97 4t65-HD that came with the car as the trans currently in has no over drive. it works ever now and then when what is left of the spines catch.

install the front and rear strut tower braces from the 99

install the headlights and clear corners from the 99

install the SLP front sway bar i removed form the GTX

install SLP 1.8 rockers from the GTX

finish swapping the interior to charcoal. (dash will also replace heater core at this time, seat belts, and rear package shelf)

install HUD cutting the dash with it out of the car will be easier

swap in a DIC or not they are cool but pretty much worthless besides pretty lights
But why make it an SE?

and yes we took both out they are about even the GTP might be a top swpa but it has stok intake and exhuast and 2.93 gearing. the GT is a straight L67 with intake, exhuast and 3.29 gears. so they are pretty close. the GT is also lighter
But why make it an SE?

The ones I've had have been solid bodies, which is good for the area.

Tough to say which is the odder car. Really have to think of which is which when you buy parts.

yup the previuse owner gave me a list of what is form what going to confuse quite a few part stores haha. it's also cool having a 97 "GTP" with traction control and abs and a tire pressure monitor

i think the oddest car i currently own is the 92 Lebaron one of 500 with the white leather interior from 1990-1992. what makes it even odder is it's a base modle leather was not even supose to be an option of a base modle let alone the white interior lol it was just one of the cars chrysler just built just to send to a dealer it was not ordered by a dealer or a customer just randomly put together
But why make it an SE?
