Hello everyone! I am now the proud owner a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix (pre-facelift)!!! I purchased the car today 10-18-14 for $250 as a part of the cheap car challenge! We will be driving from Dallas to Las Vegas and maybe more!
The first issue that needs to be addressed is the transmission.
right now i only have 1st gear. When i put the gear selector in park, neutral, and reverse, i can hear a clicking type sound coming from the transmission.
in drive, the sound goes away and i have perfect 1st gear engagement. then (when the vehicle would normally shift under lack of load like coasting) it will idle down if i let off on the gas but doesnt go into any gear. just kind of goes into neutral. if i giver it gas again, it will rev back up to where the rpm;s should be when in 1st gear. any ideas? if i put the selector in 1st gear all is as it should be. the rpms go up and down with the speed.
the Previous owner said that she "bottomed out" on something while driving. thats when the problem happened. is there a solenoid or somthing that could have been damaged? i am a mechanic., but im not familiar with pontiac at all.
