I spent around a month looking for another car to get for the household since our 95 GMC Jimmy has tranny problems (No 2nd/OD) and if I fix it then I have nothing to drive while I do so. I had a nice budget, went around local dealers and found a nice Black STI that I liked, test drove it and it was ok. Another a few miles away had a 03 Cobra that I fell in love with. I went home ready to go pick it up the next morning. Well that day I spent all day thinking about what to do. Picking up either of these cars would mean paying it off for half of the year and putting my other project on hold until so. I then said to myself that I only need a car to get me to point A to point B and not another money pit. I skipped on the STI/Cobra. I was also looking into another F-Body. Thirdgen to be specific. I am a big Thirdgen F-body nut. I have owned 3 so far those being a 92 Camaro RS 25th Ed Z03 Polo Green/Gold Heritage stripes, 88 Formula 2.8/T5 White, and my current 1986 Firebird Base LT1 Swap project. I was looking to add a 88-90 IROC but nothing came up and I gave up the search. My father told me a friend of his sold his 00 GTP. I remembered the car. It was very nice, fully loaded, 3.8 Supercharged, well maintained and looked pretty good. He sold it to another friend that basically got i t for his ex-wife (Yea I said wut too). I told my dad to call him and tell him if the wife doesn't want it that I will buy it off him before he tittles it. He came over and pretty much told me that she wants to keep it. Fast forward to the next day and I get a phone call. An hour later I have this in my yard... 2000 GTP. 133k. 2 owners (3 now). Leather, Sunroof, Heated Seats, Hud, CD Player. Pretty much fully loaded from what I see. I just loved the car. Was very roomy and has enough kick to please me for a daily. I plated it and insured it the same day and was off driving. I have had it for about 3 weeks and have already almost put 3k miles on it just from driving it around to downtown and to and from work. First thing I did was slap on spare cone filter I had laying around in the garage. 4' seemed to fit perfectly once tightened. That gave me a good Supercharger wine and brought a instant smile to my face first time driving it with it. Then I debaged it. I removed 2 diff dealer emblems from the rear as well as the Grand Prix. As well as the GTP emblem from the doors.

With the car having 133k of course its gonna have its little details. I went to work on fixing them. When I did the debage I went ahead and fixed them. It seems the car has been hit a few times from parking idiots and left their paint smeared on the car. On the passenger side it had 2 areas very close to each other. I already had my 1500, 2000 and 3000 grit ready from debading so I went to town.

I did not take a before Picture but as you can see besides the second picture showing the deeper scratch, everything came off perfect after polishing and waxing. That line above my shadow figure is the reflection of the power line.

Another area was on the bottom part of the passenger left door gfx.

    Before:

    After:

Much better but as you can see the main scratch went deep but any improvement is better than none.

That is pretty much all I have done to it so far exterior wise. As far as drivetrain wise, it needed a power steering pump which I replaced right away. It also surges a bit while stopped in drive. I will be plugging in the OBD2 and seeing what is going on. A full Tune-up is coming this weekend. As well as replacing the Ball Joints with Moogs and checking the wheel bearings since I get vibrations when accelerating and the CV axles are new.

Its being planned as a Daily driver for the household. So not going crazy on it. Maybe just a replacement for the TB cone with Wiz intake, U-Bend Delete and replacing the mufflers since the driver one seems to have a hole in it.

I have this waiting to come out next summer so I wont go crazy with the GTP.

Thanks. I did the U-Bend delete today. Very happy to get that restrictive part out of the way. I also fixed the cluster issue I was having (Fuse) and fix some minor details that needed to fix like the driver side window switch trim needing fixing and Hud dim mod.

Overall I am very happy with this car.

One thing though, I basically have the open cone on the car right now. Besides loving the Supercharger whine, I drove it with the Scanner plugged in and found something interesting and somewhat disturbing. Well with normal driving and at a stoplight the IAT would go nearly up to 160... Averaging out at 150~. While driving around it would almost instantly drop to 129 and lowest was 118 while on the highway but getting on the car would cause a 3-5 KR even with the intake temps being around 120-130.

I assume this is bad? I wanted to stick on the stock intake setup and drive it around but ran out of time to do so. I basically just have a cone onto the TB. Whats going on here? Is investing into a real CAI the way to get those KR down or getting more into the exhaust?

Those temps are normal for a HAI, you're sucking in the engine temp...With a CAI, my temps will climb a lil bit while sitting and drop to ambient temps while cruising. So whatever temp it is outside, my IAT is the same.

So i haven't updated this in a while but the gtp has been through alot since I made this thread. At first it was just my daily and then it sat while I enjoyed my 86 firebird until me recently getting rid of it. Now with a different mindset my modding urge has set in for the gtp and this is the result...

Window tint is definitely my next thing to do. Also my rear and front bumpers are not perfect lol front bumper has spider cracks and a scrape near the passenger fog lights and rear bumper is beat up from someone bumping into it. I am replacing both with yard bumpers when I find decent ones. Nothing yet. As far as mods, nothing big. Unfortunately just ubend delete, open cone, resonator replaced with glasspack and Zzp pcm. My next purchase is definitely headers but still undecided on what to go. I really like the quietness of the car now, I don't want to make it loud since I personally think 3800 sound like crap.

Sand with 1000>1500>2000 grit and then a simple scratch remover/polish. I got most of my scratches out.

The car has been abused and now has alot of beauty marks from daily driving. Here are some sorta decent pictures of the car I took today. This car gets really dusty after a day of driving it...

Future plans when I start working again is Lowering, Tint, Retros, and then start modding into a 3.4 Pulley.

    Well time for an update.

Here are some pictures of the car, new ones that is. Decided to take off the plastidip off the wheels. Everyone says it looks 100x better but I will let you guys judge.

Right now the main thing is lowering! Already ordered WBS Springs and Cant wait to install them, if their advertised 1.6 drop is right, then my ride height will be perfect. I also need to swap out the rear tires for something more meaty than the 235/45/17s but I already had those tires laying around.

Tint is coming this weekend, still researching about it for a good install. Probably going 35% all around to keep it legal.

As far as performance goes, I am at a crossroads, Right now I get about a 1* of knock. Right now my mindset is set on headers but looks like SD are no where to be found on ebay... I really want to drop down to a 3.5 pulley or even a 3.4 soon...
