Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
What he means is "No. Don't do that. Its not safe."
IIRC heating them softens them where you heated them, but when they cool back they harden up and lose the spring rate that they had before. I have heard (never seen) horror stories of heating springs to really lower the car and them breaking later on and causing all sorts of problems.

Still no.

It's very unsafe and can cause a broken spring and will definitely cause a horrible ride.
Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
Or you could just spend $80 on springs and lower it right..... I imagine you spent enough on blue paint and vinyls that $80 is nothing
Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
Yeah I had a friend who did the low budget civic lowering. Heat em and sit on the hood. Car rode like hammered piss and one day the spring broke.

How much did you pay for your Vinyl Cutter and program? I was looking into getting one of those.

The program is free - the cutter program is "SignBlazer Elements for USCutter" - actually cuts - just used in trial(fully functional since there is no support) - The other program i use is "Inkscape" - used for making pics into what SB E needs to cut with.
and I use "ArcSoft PhotoStudio" - to mod the pic to put into Inkscape.
Ya its extremly hard to figure out when u first start with crappy instructions!!!!!!!:th_wtf:
As fo rthe Cutter - Price on ebay is $550 + shipping.
I got mine from some one who could not figure it out and was fustrated, and never used it cause they could not get puter to talk to cutter. $450 including some vinyl. - no stand
and the paper u see in the cutter is wrapping paper from canada post.

Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
Its about time!!!
Taken about as long as a MadMonkey Project hehe
Will look good tho once the wheels all match
Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
Ya, i know the rims took a long time, but have to do things when i have time.
Thats why the DS rocker panel is next.

Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
ya, and it doesnt help when u add projects to the list.
right now - about 1 -2 hours/day is cleaning and organizinig my tools and kitchen, storage room (extra bedroom)way too much stuff - but most i want to sell on ebay - old car mags going back to 60's - 70's - 80's ect - then about 60 Haynes manuals, old records, alot of coke collectables, and collectable knives. - and about 10 bokes of old cameras.
Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
87 vette.
Dont know yet.
its a big project - the motor is toast, eventhough it runs, and tranny only works in three gears - priced at $4800 to fix both.
but other news, I going to pick up LIM, UIM and more in a kit, and bolt as well.
Re: My 98 GP SE and what ive done to it
You could get a motor and trans for under $1000 if you looked around.
