So....I'm starting my build/ progress thread. Used to own a black 97 GT, had to let it go and hopped to one day get another GP. The chance came along and I got a Gold (don't know the official name) GTP. It is bone stock right now, want to do lots of mods to it. Due to finance reasons I will not be doing any mods for a while. Although I have cleaned it up and scrubbed off the dirty tips.

The next morning after I got it

    Clean Tips(just edges)

    Boring Interior

    Stock azz motor

I read the write up about safely modding your 3800 and found it very helpful. So the first mod I might do is de badge and DIY intake.

Not to shabby. Rims would be first on my list.

Yes, one the first things I want to do is rims, not a fan of what it came with.

I got motivated today cause it's my last day of leave before I go back to work. Took off the trunk badge and both GTP door badges. Lightly wet sanded with 1000 grit and then buffed it out. My last GP was badge less and I like this one the same way.

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

    After

    After

    Also IMO

Had to put an O-ring in the fuel tank today. What a PITA
Now I'm dealing some other little issues. I need yalls help though, I was thinking of painting the gold part of the rims gloss black.

get torque stars. you can find them for cheaps on craigslist. i found some sets going for 100 bucks.

also, build yourself a simple cone intake. and read the safely modding thread

Yup, I added the "safely mod your 3800" thread to my fav's. Very good info in that write up. Also I have been checking CL for rims every day hoping to find a deal. There are very few GP owners around these parts or they just hold onto to stuff. I was thinking of getting some Mustang bullits for the time being cause I can find those on CL all the time. I want some pre gens, but have no luck so far.

To clean up my tips I used a dremel, but a wire wheel on a drill or sand paper works also.

debadge looks good. I will probaly do to my trunk also but want to keep door badges. I am short 1 door badge and was wondering if you still have yours and how much you would charge to ship one to 95610 area code? If not does anyone know where to order?
