Awesome im all over that! lol
No really, getting some stuff thats much like structural adhesive. these *****es are never coming off without MASSIVE effort.
... not strong enough. I want to hear "these *****es are never coming off". Period.
They'll be like a roll cage in an accident. roll the car and the roof is unscathed lol
That's too much. When you decide to take them off so you can sell the car or have a major emergency and need to sell something to raise a quick few bucks, you'll ruin them trying to get them off.
All-weather gorilla glue, nuff said.
I use the clear silicone that's made to hold panel trim pieces on... That and 3m double sided tape and you won't pull these *****es off. The whole car shakes violently and still no movement from the rails.. A tube of it is only 7 bucks.. You don't need no 40$ ****. You're just wasting your money
clear silicone stuff???? elaborate lol
also never knew about all weather gorilla glue.
Considering the last time I used Gorilla Glue it expanded and hardened like a dam diamond, I don't know if I would want to use it on the rails if you want it back off EVER! Plus if it expands it won't sit down like it should and you'd have to sit with it holding pressure all over until it cured... 2-4 hrs later. I would think the trying to take them off later would result in pulling off the paint under the glue before the glue itself let go.
thought so.
A urethane or expoy would be better i think because it could be broken down chemically if need be.
polyurethane is some tough stuff. its not coming off. and epoxy is kinda there for life too. if you try to break it down chemically, your also taking the paint off.
silicone will come off easier in the long run. and that gorilla glue, i never used the all weather, but the regular kind you can beak it free at least if need be.
or just a strip of 3m tape. at least with tape you know it will come off down the road.
so this guy got his rails a day before i did and painted and installed the next day ahaha this thread fails to deliver again no hard feelings
thanks for crapping up my thread Matt, appreciate it.
I dont give a crap about delivering, I take my time and work on my car.. MY CAR.
Sorry to snap, rough day, and just tired of BS.

Remember, Pressure points. Wooosaaah
just use silicone, u would be surprised how strong it is when u use good stuff
Which would you recommend ken?
jordan im talking about this stuff...use it, it works.
Buy Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant 80855 at Advance Auto Parts
Sure beats $40 for some "never come off" epoxy. Besides, truthfully, the rails make a subtle difference, but I doubt if people would really steal them off your car unless you just happen to park in a really BAD area in which likely you will lose your wheels before they take the moldings. 95% of people don't realize the demand for these and would think they are just another $20 molding to the car.
Sounds like a plan to me. Hell ive got a tube of silicone already from homedepot ;)... my only thing is gonna be clamp time.. might be able to use some tape to hold them down lol
got 2 bath towels and some bricks. instant clamps.
Tape on front point and rear point like 1" strip of double sided tape, silicon the rest
