good, the squeaking is one thing that i wont miss.

I like the interior of the STi. I think the blue everywhere is a little race but I'm ok with it. The dash fits together and pieces don't pop out, so it's huge a huge leap on the Cobalt right there. Every once in a while I'll hear a rattle or a squeak but overall the fit and finish is a lot nicer than any GM car I've ever been in. The G8's interior is pretty nice as far as styling but the cheap plastic takes away from it. The sub I just installed brings out some new rattles but that's to be expected, plus I'm taking it back out anyhow so I'm not worried about it. Subarus do have cheap interiors, but they don't "feel" cheap like a cheap GM interior does. It's a much nicer place to sit in my opinion![]()
The Impreza, or at least the WRX and STi are known to have some rattles, but they're all easy to take care of. For example, I had the common "windsheild squeak" but when i added my subframe H-Brace it went away. the wagons are know to have a rattle in the back, and it's almost always something in the spare tire well that's come loose and can be retighten in 5 seconds.
Well I went to the track last night, drove the car harder than I ever have and finally learned how to properly launch it. Unfortunately because of the wind they were only running 1/8th mile, but pics, videos, and timeslips are coming soon anyhow.
You're too nice to it![]()
Alright never mind no video because iMovie is an even worse video processor than MovieMaker. I'll post video at some other point.
Anyhow, my friend Matt who drives a 2000 VW Golf GTI VR6 and I went to Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH to run last night. My girlfriend also came along and took some video and rode with me for a few passes. It was extremely windy all afternoon so they were only running 1/8th mile races, I was hoping to run quarter miles but there wasn't anything I could do about it.
I've never dragraced in a standard shift car before, so please forgive my horrible r/t and 60' times on the first few passes. After some tips on launching from another guy in a STi I got some decent launches and 60' times and made one pass that would have been a high 12's pass if we were running quarter mile races. I was basically holding the RPM's at 3,000 and stepping out of the clutch to launch. The guy there suggested I try to feather the clutch between 4-6K and step out of the clutch and it made a huge difference. I made 11 passes total, and overall I was happy with the results. If nothing else I learned how to launch and met some cool people.

Overall it was a successful night. Nothing broke, the 100+ mile drive each way drive went without incident (except some tailgaters) and we all had a good time. Can't wait to go back!
Cliffs: 10th run was my best. My car goes BRAP BRAP BRAP PSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH-CHHHHH.

Nice job!
Is there anyway we could convert the times to 1/4...I don't understand 1/8th mile LOL
I owe someone a 10 second car though. so I'm not doing too good there.
But yeah, 12.9 is what I was hoping for. I'd still like to try to make some 1/4 mile passes this year before I change anythign else on the car to see if I can get a 12 second timeslip with the car as it is now.
Quite impressive sir! Oh btw, I have found the one. I pick her up on the 14th of next month! Thanks for all the advice you gave.
It wouldn't have any problem hitting high 12's. 4th gear is the "money gear" for a full pull. It's a little longer and acceleration is brutal. I wouldn't have any problem picking up another 20 MPH in the second 1/8 to make for a low 100 MPH pass. Only one way to find out for sure.
FWIW, My 1.8 60 foot, 8.2 1/8 mile resulted in a 13.2x pass.
And yeah like Nick said...that car also ended up cracking a 11.97 before he left that night...1.5 60's win.
