Can't dent your car if they're dead... Just sayin
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Now available in extra dent flavor!
Haha they also can't be collected upon by the insurance companies. They're more important to me alive.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Now available in extra dent flavor!

Got a good deal on this hood from a friend of mine:

The problem is I don't think I really want it. I don't want to sound arrogant but being honest my car is really clean and this hood could take away from that. For one I feel like the CF would be distracting, but there's a few flaws in the carbon and it's got some orange peel in the clear. I could wetsand it and re-polish but I don't know if I want to spend the time doing that. It's a real Seibon hood/scoop so it's good stuff and it's actually been re-cleared with UV-resistant clear. I buffed it out after it was cleared and re-installed on my friend's car and it does look nice but I can't decide if it's right for me.
What do you guys think? The STi has an aluminum hood stock so it doesn't offer much (if anything) as far as weight savings. I know I could clean it up some and sell it, my friend even told me he doesn't care if I decide I don't want it, sell it, and double my money, he just wanted it gone. Should I run it, sell it, try it out for a few weeks, or not even bother to install it?
On a different note I finally got around to installing my Cobb airbox to turn my Cobb SF short-ram intake into a true cold air intake.
Went from this:

Haven't driven it yet but I'm expecting to see much lower IATs now. They weren't more than a few degrees above ambient while cruising but idling they used to skyrocket and with the TMIC being so easy to heatsoak the cooler IATs are a good thing. Hopefully it was worth the pain in my ass it was to install it.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
it could look good against your car..
or buy it and use it as a sled in the winter?
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
I say you buy it, try it, then if you don't like it you can sell it.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
I say shine that baby up good. Then stick it on. Only way to know for sure if it's gonna look like good or distracting. But you have to do yourself and the hood justice by making it look as clean as the car. Obviously if you just put it on while it's blah it will look like poop
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
At least try it out. if you dont like it, sell it. But post pics first.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
I already bought it, it's in my basement haha. Just can't decide if I want to be bothered to install it or not.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
buddy has a CF hood on his 09 wrx and i personally think it kills the flow. sure, its the hatchback, but unpainted CF hood is just a bit off on any car.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
I think certain cars can pull off unpainted carbon fiber. I don't think mine is one of them. That's why I'm looking for opinions though.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
It's not gonna hurt to try it out. Put it on, you never know, it might grow on you.
At the end of the day, nobody's opinion matters, as long as it's cool to you.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
I'm gonna go with the others and say try it.
Rock it for a few days and get the feel for it.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
or be awesome rice and carry teh CF hood on your roof, swap them on teh track for AWESOME WEIGHT REDUCTION.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
Sweet ride!! I have always liked the way the Subaru WRX's and STI's look!! And man do they go fast.....
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Not sure if carbon fiber is good - or just being a ricer
I say try it and see how you like it. It would be just a couple hours wasted if you don't.
Truthfully, I don't see you likeing it at all as it stands, or even repolished back to perfection. Your kind of black doesn't mesh well with full CF, the CF has a odd greyish black look that almost looks dirty on a truely clean dark shiny black. I think it will make the whole car look clean and the hood look like you haven't washed it in a couple months, or a year. That is how my friends 300zx went when he got the CF hood. He hated it.
If you want the CF accent, I say get it wrapped or painted in the same black so it flows with the car, you just have the CF scoop or all black and just when you raise the hood to show off people realize what the hood is. Either way is winning, but as it is, I don't think you will like it. But you have to try it to know for sure.
