Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
Can't wait to see what all you got in ans get put on. Also, I wished I would have read this thread sooner. Heck Kyle you bought your scoobie where I'm at (Roanoke) I work all over the county. I'm surprised you didn't get pulled over by the po po for no tags on the way home. Car is sweet. Keep us updated. P.S love the gauges!

Nice choice in springs, but aren't those springs suppose to work with the valving of the Bilstein struts? My friend did a similar setup, car handles like a BMW for sure.
Looks like a good choice and setup.
Have you been enjoying the car?

I did get pulled over in WV :D
Explained to the officer that VA doesn't give a 30 day tag but showed him the temp transit permit. Took my license for a minute, brought it back and told me to have a safe trip home.

Feal has different custom valving options based of what springs you're running, these struts are valved specifically for the RCE yellow tarmac springs that I'm buying. I've yet to read a bad thing about RCE yellows on Feal revalves, most people like them better than coilovers unless you're running a great setup like Ohlins. Perfect for a performance-oriented DD.
Thanks.I'm wondering if the 27mm front bar will be too big but I want to try it. if i don't like it I can sell/buy or trade it for a matching 24mm to complement the rear. Stock is 20mm f/r so maybe I'll be better off matching the sizes.
I'm still loving the car, couldn't be happier with my decision to get it. Can't wait to get the clunky struts taken care of, it'll make everyday driving a lot nicer. Also, I'm starting to lean towards doing more road course/tracking the car than autocrossing. I'd like to take some HPDE classes and take a trip to VIR. Still planning on autoxing and hitting the dragstip once in a while but not as much as I originally intended to.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
shoulda got coilovers like a boss.
also, get DMS camber plates. RCE sells them. they are super boss-tastic. these are the camber plates i would run if i had them in the budget.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
crap $600 for just the rears? There's got to be something cheaper out there that will work for what I want to do.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
all of the plates worth buying are going to cost you like $350 a set.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
But $600 for a set of all for is much better than $600 for the rear only. Based on what I've been reading I don't even need camber plates. 98% of the time the car is going to be a daily driver with a few trackdays a year. Group-N tophats would proably work fine but I still might consider rear camber plates. Camber bolts up front will allow me to get enough adjustability I'm not trying to cheap out halfway through a project but if there's realy no need for me to spend an extra $600 I'm not going to do it, ya know?
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
i would get the whiteline max c ones (the rubber ones with static camber and caster) for the front. group n's will be fine for the rear.
you can then adjust camber by slotting the struts. i dont trust camber bolts :/
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
Those Whitelines look pretty nice, more in my price range as well :D
And about the Camber bolts, why don't you trust them? Just curious? The STi actually has camber bolts from the factory but they don't allow you to adjust for more than about .7* of negative camber.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
mine have camber bolts in the front up top too, but i would much rather use a stock (regular) bolt and slot the strut. you'll get a bunch of camber adjustment out of it and you wont ever have the possiblity of the bolt spinning and slipping.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
I spent the weekend wrapping the dash in 3M 1080 black carbon fiber material, installing my Alpine CDA-105 HU, Alpine SPS-600c front door speakers, Kicker KS400 rear door speakers, Alpine MRP-M500 amp and single 12" Alpine Type-R sub (which the sub may be coming out already). I also added the Forester din picket rather than having an open cubby.
I'll grab some better pictures later but here's a little preview:

good job matching the grain in the carbon fiber

Meh it's alright, I tried though. I used a hair dryer to heat the stuff to make it more pliable but it stretched some. The grain lines up in some places and in others it's off. It's all going the same direction at least :D Thanks man.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
can i ask you a question?
well I'm going to anyways lol
how is the build quality inside? ive been reading more and more on suby forums, and recently ive read a couple times that the materials and quality of the interior are ****ty. which kind of threw me for a loop, ive always thought (assumed, i guess) that subaru was a company to expect good quality from.an opinion like this really depends on the perspective, so since youve had a couple GMs im wondering how much better the fit and finish is of the suby.
sorry to get off track, drooling over your interior sparked the question in my mind.
Re: My 2005 WRX STi - "build" starting on pg 15
the interior is leaps and bounds better than GMs interiors. seriously.
they are a cheap car, but at least everything goes together nicely. no rattles here, buddy.
