Purchased this 2001 Grand Prix GTP Special Edition a week ago to replace my 2000 Grand Prix GT that I pulled the plug on back on April 15th.

Few days after I bought it. (Already installed the black turn signal mirrors with puddle lights I had made for and ran on my GT)

    Currently how she sits

Plans for the car as of right now are
-Paint front and rear facias gloss black (maybe spoiler and heat extractors too) as I am going with a red and black theme.
    -SD Lip
    -Bullitt Wheels

Things that I need to look at fixing
-Car has been throwing a P0420 code so I have to check and see if the cat needs replacement or what the deal is.
-Car leaks oil out of pan gasket (I think) so bad it leaves a little puddle on the ground overnight. It also seems to burn off of the cat somehow so not exactly sure where its coming from for sure.
-Supercharger has a gravelly noise coming from it and I'm not really sure what is causing it so I will have to do some checking into it.

Not really planning on playing with pulley size, supporting mods, and tuning yet but that might be something I look into when I get out of college. Just looking to make it look good for now.

SC noise most likely coupler. Nice car. Congrats!

Okay. The guy I bought it from said that he had the coupler and supercharger oil changed so is it normal for a coupler to make noise when its first installed or is it normal to have that noise? This is my first supercharger so I honestly don't know how it should sound.

Shouldn't hear it at all when idling. Take belt off and snap sc pulley back and forth. Shouldn't have any play.

Your use of word "gravely" is exactly what is typically used to describe a bad coupler.

Screw that college nonsense... I'm assembling a turbo kit and I'm going into my first year this coming fall. Lol. On another note, it looks really good

Thanks. lol. And college comes first for me. So far Ive been able to work and pay for my education so I haven't had any loans but I may have to take some out for this next year. I figure if I can dodge the loans I can start building a car once I graduate and land a good job. Id rather not start off in the hole like most people do.

So if I twist the pulley back and forth and hear a tap every time I switch direction in the supercharger that would be the play you speak of? Just did it and that is what I heard.

Alright. I'll get the coupler and oil ordered up then. Might as well order an oil pan gasket and knock that out the same day too.

Pictures seem okay, but whats it's like under all that red paint??

Rockers good and no strut tower rust, should have plastic liners in the rear since it's 2001.

    Mileage?

Rockers are semi fine as of right now. I say that because the pinch welds are useless but it's not rusted out yet. Best one I've seen in a while. Strut towers are fine too. And when I was working on it I saw the liners and was surprised. Didnt realise they went to that. She's got 132,300 on it now.

Nice. It's coming along nicely. I'm liking the show and go plate. Do you have photos of how you installed it. Looking to do something similar with my plate but considering a different location since I have the SD air dam.

Its held into the air dam with two small bolts and nuts and then the back of it is secured to the wind dam under the car. I actually had to cut a piece out and will have to take out a little bit more to allow it to fully retract. Ill grab some pics of it after I get done with work.

Photobucket will not let me upload any pics for some reason so in the meantime here's a vid of the supercharger whine after the open cone was added.

So I've been silent on here for what seems to be like a year. Here's a little bit about what I've done to the car and where I'm headed as well.

Additions to the car since last year
    - SD Lip
    - Bullitt Wheels (painted gloss black with polished lip)
    - Valve Stem caps with Pontiac logo
    - GPO Grille Inserts
    - Custom Mesh Grilles (upper, lower, and air dam inserts)
    - GTP Badge for grile painted red with black border
    - AeroForce dual scan gauges
    - Glowshift Boost Gauge
    - ZZP Pillar pod
    - Painted Heat Extractors gloss black
    - Painted Spoiler gloss black
    - Put in red LED floor light for use while driving
    - Rear PONTIAC inlay (red)
    - Rear GRAND PRIX badge overlay (black)
    - Front filler plate PONTIAC inlay (black)
    - SUPERCHARGED script windshield banner (red)
    - Gloss black Vent Visors

    To be added
    - SD Headers (sitting in the garage awaiting mods prior to install)

I do believe that's pretty much all I've done. My plans for the car are to keep the engine going and start modding the motor and build up the tranny. Ultimately the body will go first I'm thinking so I'd like to drop the motor and tranny into a Fiero when that does happen.

Here are some pics of how it looks as of today.

We will see. Exterior has seen better days. Rock chips all over and a decent amount of dents. If the body were nicer I'd consider fixing the rust. I may try to find a rust free southern GP later down the line too.

Nice to see another person from WI on here.
Really digging that red and black theme you have going on. I hear you about the rocker panel rust mine's getting sorta bad as well.
