This will be a sort of journal documenting the current status of the car and all the maintenance and mods. This car was purchased in Miami, and has been taken to the dealer for every maintenance its had. I got it as an inheritance so I'm trying to make the best of it. I have already posted it in the Noobie Intro Thread but wanted to put this somewhere more permanent.

Mechanically sound outside of a busted left ball joint grease was going everywhere. I took her to her birth place for CV Axle replacements, they wanted 400+ p/axle for OEM new Old GM stock + Labor, I could get ZZP Axles for that!! I ended up just going for what ever they had available, Carquest Brand. Normally I take most projects myself but I have a broken Elbow and Wrist right now and there was an inherent wobble to the cars ride, I also need to go on a road trip this weekend. I ended up paying $400 for the labor but they still cover the repair under warranty for a year and they had it ready in the afternoon.

I so wish I could wrench right now FML

I just installed my first accessory, I know some of you aren't a fan but I really like riding around with the windows cracked just a bit without anyone knowing my window is open. http://www.weathertech.com/pontiac/2...dystyle/sedan/ normally window shades stick out a whole lot but these are pretty low profile, infact they are almost hard to see in the pictures.

Most people debug their car... I'm strange I guess. I'm in the process of re-badging my GP. Since the car was repainted the badges where all painted over and look ugly IMO. I really like the darker Dark Bronzemist Metallic color so I bought decals this color, the look so hot so clean. Embarrassingly I ordered the wrong colored 3800 V6 emblems I am currently talking to the Ebay seller to see how we can exchange them.

I started the process of removing the old hard backing on them. Luckily at work I get a lot of down time, its taken two half work days to get it all off.

    Before and after

***What would be a good way to stick them back on?***

Also I got one of the side panels, gonna need to do a little cleaning and polishing but hurray one step closer to having all my body panels!!

There where a couple things bothering me about the car, and my for ever search for cleanliness.

First the grille had some rusty screws, and it was just faded from the years of Florida sun.

Also the support bars where showing a little bit of rust and the rusty bults where bothering me.... I used a 13mm to get them out there was a longer bolt at the strut tower.

I sprayed everything with 3 coats of high temp glossy black motor paint.

Everything is much cleaner toking now and best of all no more rust!!

    The

    Big

    Reveal/Surprise!!!!

    1970's Original GP Grille Emblem

I'm not super happy with how the grille came out, the plastic just kinda absorbed the paint and left it all dull... Im planning on getting some automotive primer and re spraying with color match paint of some kind and clear any suggestion on color? I was gonna stick to black...

I went treasure hunting this weekend and found a 99 GTP fresh and ready! Got some stuff but still need some more things, lower door moldings on this one where shot. The valance that goes on the back bumper with the pontiac logo is something I am on the search for I wanna represent from the back.

I did find these dope color matching GM badges I couldn't help but to stick in my pocket. Even through they weren't stock I feel like some brand loyalty to our still existing parent company

I also grabbed a door hinge and a DIC. I'll be posting the journey on the DIC here:

Update: Got in the last panel the person on eBay was a little flaky with the color but at $20 it was worth it even though the color doesn't match

I see it as an opportunity to sand, prime, respray, clear, wetland, and buff.... never done a respray to this level, Ive only done matt black lol!! There is another panel I wanted to do this to, so now I just have two to work on, I plan on using Duplicolor cans lets see how well it matches I just want to get by until I get a descent paint job, still want to get hood and that rear valance.

Agreed on the tints, in Florida we can do 28% and 15% everywhere else. The cops down here in Miami are really aa PITA about this so I was planning on putting 30% tint all over with an 8" or 10" strip across the front windshield. I figured it would keep the car cooler too while its parked. Where I live curbside parking is the only option.

Anyone have any images of your GP with 30% tints?

That is 20% all around with a 5% brow right at the AS1 line. Just to give a reference point. That's my old GTP.

Sweet ride the image infront of the smoke stacks is killer! 20% is pretty dark, Makes me think maybe even going lighter than legal might be where its at... 50% all over

My Girl needed to use the car today, so I got a rare chance to see the GP from afar. I must admit she is looking wayyyyyy better.

Next on the list is the solenoid valve and the master brake cylinder, its leaking and the brakes feel spongy.... I'll have to take her in since my freaking hand is still broken and will be casted for another 6 weeks.

I read on here that after replacing the master brake cylinder the ABS needs to be "tuned" or something? What is this called?
