So I picked up something today.

    2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L V8
    -Fully loaded
    -67000 miles
    -4 door
    -Remote Start

    Things I will do:
    -Projector retrofit
    -Some LEDs
    -Kenwood DDX371 stereo
    -Tint the front windows

This is now my Daily Driver, the Saab is getting a suspension overhaul in a few weeks that will require the car to be up on jackstands for about 2 weeks while I do everything. Then sometime over the next coming year, I've been gathering parts to build up the motor on the Saab, so it will see some downtime again (more on that later in the Saab thread).

ohhh god your gonna get all the haters like i did when i got my 08 navigator.

been a good suv so far rolling living room ftw!

just ordered new 20s for it because the stock wheels were peeling bad and leaking air. got some torque thrust st's coming. basically look like grey 6 spoke bullit wheels. should look good on black navigator 200 a wheel.

need to order some skinny lugs still and the install kit to swap wheel sensors to the new wheels.

Pearl White, 4 door, 5.5 foot bed.

It has the 2 piece spark plug issue but the cam phaser issue was fixed by 2006.

It has 67000 miles on it as I was driving it home.

I'll grab pictures tomorrow. It was dark by the time I got home. Headlights kind of suck, I am so use to projector headlights in all my vehicles.

previous owner paid to have the frame coated, I assume when it was relatively new, there is no rust on the frame and a little on some brackets and connectors.

I still wouldn't rule out a phaser issue at some point, they all get loud no matter the year.

Only other big things are that they eat ball joints and the rear axle seals are super common.

And since it has low miles still, I'd even change the spark plugs now before carbon can build up on the exposed threads inside the cylinder head and prevent them from coming out.

I was think about just doing the spark plugs and putting in the 1 piece spark plugs that solve the problem.

Balljoints are no big deal. Ranger ate them too.

Funny story...this is the very first v8 I have ever owned

I did some reading last night and a lot of guys have had success by switching from the factory recommended 5w20 to 5w30.

    you didn't get a diesel?

i can't steer myself to any other truck than a silverado these days, even though the F150 is the better truck.

I looked across the whole range. Diesel wasn't really an option though.

I wanted to stay under $20k and have relatively low miles, I looked Chevy, Dodge, Toyota and Ford. I was getting some badly abused Chevy's (and rusted to hell), Toyota Tundra was bland as hell (and overpriced because Toyota), and no body buys a Dodge from that area of "who owns me"

The guys I know who are /were Ford techs say the best way to avoid cam phaser issues is to ignore the OLM system and change the oil regularly. I actually know a guy who Ford denied warranty claiming he was going too long between oil changes even though he was following the OLM system. Ford "recalibrated" it to have him change it more often on the new engine. He is still fighting with Ford for reimbursement on the replacement engine, but he had to have his truck back to drive so he paid. Oil changes more often are much cheaper than a motor. Otherwise he likes the truck and it has been good to him.

    2010.

Alot of guys who get the issue just ignore it and keep driving, it really shouldn't grenade the engine.
