The maroon GTP still sits in my driveway. DEAD.

It pains me to think how much time, cash, and effort I devoted to this car.... I mean, the car was coated in sound deadening material! For Gods Sake. Rockers were welded. Strut towers too! Jeeeeze

Ebay has plenty of low mileage L26's for $250-$300. Install some headers, cam, top swap with a stock 3.8 pulley, and it will be back to DD duties. It's gonna be back on the road! No doubt about it.

    No much of an update...

Really, I just wanted this thread, and my new thread, side-by-side. LOL!

Pulled the engine last night. First time doing that. It was awesome.

    Next Steps:

Get heads cleaned. Maybe fluxed and decked.
Pull trans and have it checked out (ran fine just got really hot , like 230*).
    Buy/Install Rack and Pinion
Send out P/S pump for rebuild
    Drain old fuel
    Buy/Install fuel pump
    Buy other crap (used headers)
    Source engine
    Re-Gasket Engine

Took the engine apart some over the weekend. Found a few metal shavings in the pan but otherwise no visible carnage. Piston rings looked brand new. Everything looked so mint. Maybe I'll run it again? Also pulled the trans out. It was running fine but getting really hot. Gonna take it to a place to get it looked at.

Nah. I mean, I think it would be awesome to have it built by Brandon. But I just need it to be looked at and slightly better than stock. This car is not going to be running any crazy setup. Sending it cross country just for that is too much.

Got in touch with Daturbosix and drove the transmission over to Redline Powertrain in Batavia. I know this place through a local car forum I am a part of. Chatted with the owner Carl. Should be all set in a couple of weeks. I have no deadline for this. I'm getting a good price but this still isn't going to be cheap. Likely about $800. Which makes me cringe in these uncertain times. I told myself I'm going to throw some money at a good trans. But the other things I need like rack and fuel pump and P/S pump, I'm going to pull from junkyards.

Working on the heads now. I will just clean them myself and inspect for cracks. The car ran stock all its life so they should be good.
