would a thinner mls gasket also help?

    Yes; if there is clearance.

Remember LS4's have 243's. You could find someone parting one out, too. Most people don't know what they have there.

Yeah, the 317s flow good, but I'd prefer smaller chambered heads. No point in running low comp if I don't plan on boosting. I've seen quite a few sets in the $300-$350 range. As for the turbo manifolds, I legitimately tried to fit them up. There's definitely some stuff missing for them. Either way, I don't plan on using them.

looks like a set that wraps around the back of the motor from the passenger side, turbo connects to drivers side header. at least that's kinda what i can tell from the picture.

if you're not going to use them you're going to sell them? how much?

Yeah those are definitely the kind that wrap around the back, they suck monkey balls for spooling any decent sized turbo.

With the LQ and not putting a turbo you are spot on for getting rid of the 317's, good luck with the build, that is awesome. I am still working on gutting mine, I have a lot of cutting to do.

Pics of the dorman intake. I bought some 799 heads the other day but received a refund after an issue popped up with the heads, so I'm waiting for him to get another set.
