Local shops want about $3k for that, and I'm not gonna spend that much on just a regular rebuild.

I have no doubt that I can get it to last until I move down to the lower 48, where I can get 2-3 good transmissions for the price of one rebuild up here. Especially if I do a full DITY move and haul the turd behind a truck.

Man, that's rough. I hope you can keep it goin till you move.

However in the meantime, if you need to start a fund and that Addco isn't rusted all up yet.. Lol.

It's been doing this for years, started 6 months after I bought it... conveniently right after the warranty from the used car dealership expired.

It's still moving under its own power, and seems to be getting better the more I play with the tune. Eventually I will have to pull the trans out and either rebuild or replace, but that can wait.

That Addco is the nicest thing on the turd, there's no way I'm getting rid of it. lol

Trans is showing no signs of getting worse, or better... I'm going to continue with my current plan of "run it until something happens" and stop worrying until it actually breaks something.

That plan has worked for years, I see no reason to change my approach to this issue.

In other news, I just went to Denali National Park this past weekend. Beautiful views, and the drive itself was worth it. Somehow, going 96 mph through winding mountain roads didn't freak out the wife as much as going through rush hour traffic in a city does.

That Chrysler is unusually smooth. lol

Fixed the horn, it's still broken.

Attached the wires, it starts going off. Pulled the fuse to shut it off, either the relay is stuck or the horn button is stuck...

    It literally never ends.

I kinda figured as much, since the retaining clips on my airbag cover are bent... I'm hoping I can just pull it off and adjust it, because I like the center insert on mine, it says "GP" instead of just the arrowhead on a black background. I haven't seen many others like that.

I guess I just don't have a horn for a little while, which sucks because those new horns are insanely loud... my ears rang for half an hour after first plugging them in. lol

is the horn staying on all the time? or dont work, smash the air bag and its stuck on deal? then air bag cover for sure. the plastic on the inside breaks. making the horn stay on. you can kinda fell the crack but once you see it aka all taken apart, you can really feel it cause you know where it is now lol

once the bag is off its 4 little nuts the inflate'r comes off, then theres a few black clips to pry back on. then the metal plate and then the bag come out. then your at the back side of the cover.

It's staying on from the moment the fuse touches the fuse block.... I'm just gonna leave the fuse out, I don't see myself having time to f*ck with it before making the trip down.

Pre-Gens make me happy. by Ben Stryker, on Flickr

I swapped my old wheels with a set of pre-gens for $20.

I know the manager of the on-post auto shop, he had an 01 SE that he only drove when his truck was down that had some really dirty, grimy pre-gens on it. I asked if he was willing to do a 1 for 1 swap, he didn't care at all. It cost me $5 to rent the bay and $15 to balance the tires, and I'm the happy owner of a nearly unscathed set of original pre-gens. Still pretty dirty, especially inside the wheels... but they cleaned up nice.

It's a double edged sword, this almost constant rain... For one, water = corrosion, but rain = free car wash.

And the weather here won't kill you within 5 minutes if you just walk outside... Plus this house has central air and heat, and a garage, and a balcony, and internet faster than 15 Mbps...

I'll take hurricanes over the frozen wastes and earthquakes every week.

Regardless of the fact that the earthquakes weren't even noticeable... lol

That's what I did a couple nights ago, phone and tv and even the XM radio in the car were blowing up about a "Severe Thunderstorm Warning"... there was some rain and a few flashes of lightning. I went back inside after a few minutes because I was bored.

I miss the true Midwest thunderstorms, that would shake the entire house with every lightning strike...

that was a passing thunder storm. hurricanes are nothing to sit out side in. when you have to lean into the wind to stand up, you know its a hurricane.
