Do I need to drain any fluid from radiator? Just wondering if I a going to pour fluid out when I pull the hoses
The heater core lines are above the rad line, so it shouldnt dump much coolant out.
You'll lose like a 2-3 quarts of coolant when you back flush the heater core though, so when you re-hook the lines back up, top off the radiator with coolant and you should be good to go.
I just assume the sloshing sounds happens on start up alot or at random.
And to find the AC drain, just run the AC and wait for water to come out. I dont recall the exact spot but it's where on the lower half of the firewall on the passenger side.
If you have sloshing but not gurgling sound and do not see a clear water puddle under the car after running the A/C on a hot humid day then parking it, your evap case drain may be plugged. I am only familiar with the 97-03s but on them... the A/C drain is fairly hidden and I am not aware of a "hose" going to it. So hidden that I can't simultaneously see and touch it. Raise the car and get your head under the approx location of the blower fan inside the dash. Look for a soft rubber flap looking thing with an opening at the bottom, sticking through the firewall. Debris builds up at the tip of the drain there and can prevent condensation from running out. Normally you can poke at it with a tool and clear the debris. Don't tear the rubber or dislodge it. Sounds like theres a lot of nasty water behind it though so use caution and be prepared.
if you look from under the car at the fire wall near the rack, and almost the center, but more to the pass side, you'll see a rubber tube with a elbow coming out the fire wall. thats the a/c drain.
the sound you hear is the heater core tho. if it was the pan holding water the floor would be soaking wet.
if the core is air bound, nothing will come out them two hoses when removed likely. if you like you can put a funnel to one hose, hold them both up in the air together then pour some coolant into the hose with the funnel till coolant comes out the other hose. then you lost no coolant, but only filled the core up.
you could hose flush it, then blow it out and refill with coolant too.

So I filled the core with the funnel and anti freeze method. Made the wife help ... You need four hands for that! Heard the gurgling as I filled it. Topped it off, ran it for 15 minutes and then bled it for another 10 minutes. My heat seems to be kicking now and the temp only went a click past middle then came down on its own to middle. Bought a new radiator cap to but they gave me the wrong one at autozone ( i had mentioned in another post my top hose was collapsing and someone suggested it). I cleaned mine out real good and made sure the spring was working. So hopefully that's it. I can't thank u guys enough again. A few bucks in parts and some labor beats paying a few hundred at the shop.
As your engine cools the top hose will collapse a little as it pulls in coolant from the overflow. If it does it while revving the engine and hot that means a stuck thermostat.
