    Hi there folks,

I'm new to the site. I bought a used 06 grand prix GXP about 2 years ago. First thing I did was debadge it, which I do with all vehicles I get. No mods were done to it as far as I can tell, so there's a lot of room for improvement ;-)

I bought a transmission cooler online a couple days ago. I just have to wait for it to be made and shipped to me.

I've been thinking about adding vents/loufers to my hood. If I do I'd like to buy a used hood at a salvage yard. Now as for my question... are the hoods of the gxp, gt, and the base model all the same or do I have to specifically look for a hood off a gxp?

I love these cars! This is my 4th grand prix ;-)

All stock hood are the same.

Just the fenders and bumper are different between base/GT/GTP and the GXP. (GXP being different)

Is the spoiler on the GXP the same too? I saw a video on YouTube and the kid said he had a GXP spoiler on his GTP. Aren't they the same?

Most of the time they are different.

GXP's came with the "SPO" spoiler, some of the GTP's and all of the COMP G's had them aswell.

What does that option look like? Is it like this spoiler:

You can see how it slopes down at the end. Is that it?

    Thanks Fivefingerdeathpunch!

Since all hoods are the same that'll make finding a donor hood easier/faster.

Welcome. Where in Houston are you? It sounds like an aftermarket hood might be easier in the long run rather than acquiring a hood and trying to modify it.

I'm in Alief. Getting an aftermarket hood is easier but also way more expensive. Not to mention less fun. I have access to welding machines, etc. It'll be a nice project.

Have fun. I have always been scared to hit sheet metal/cosmetic stuff with my welder since it is easy to warp and screw up.

Where abouts are you located, Jeff? We have a TIG welder at the shop where I work that I can use. But no lathes or milling machines. Will keep it in mind for future projects ;-)

Man there's several GP's in the Northville junkyard right now, if you need a spare.

I thought I did. But I may go a different route after seeing how others did it. They bought vents from vendors and then cut a hole in their hood and mounted the vent to the hood somehow. I'm thinking of making my own vents and when ready cut a hole in my hood and bolt them on. That way I won't have to buy a hood.

    Nothing's sure yet though.

Oh, man that sucks. You just missed the half price sale at Pick a Part (LKQ) Weekend before last. There are several in the JY right now, if you need a little help let me know.

Or if you want a new one Simco on Veterans Memorial sells body parts to the body shops. I think I paid $125 for a late model Honda Accord front bumper cover and like $75 for one for a Taurus.

Thanks Jeff. I'll wait on my insurance company first. See what they can do for me.
