My car is a 2006 Grand Prix Gt i had just recently installed a k&n cold air intake on it and ran fine for 2 days, I was driving it one night and shut the car off and when i went to go start it back up it started and it was missing really badly down on power and every time i would stop it would just die on me. Now this isn't the first time i had this intake on and it did the same thing to me ran fine for 2 days and just decided to start stalling and running like total crap. I know i did nothing wrong as far as installing this system i double checked all connections and clamps and also disconnected the battery to reset the computer. It seems to be running rich because it started to smoke real bad with the rough idle. At this point i have now idea what else to check or why this could be happening and tips on what else to check would be appreciated.

kinda sounds like you left a hose off the intake tube maybe.

I mean it doesn't hurt to check it over again but i'm going to have to resort to putting the stock air box back on it because its my only car and i just can't have it be unreliable for me. i've tried to research other grand prix's that have had this problem but can't seem to find any, I don't know if its the car in general or if its actually something i'm doing.

I will have to see if I can get a pic, when I put the stock air box back on it works perfectly fine like nothing was ever wrong with it. Theirs a weak link somewhere its just a matter of finding it. I mean I dont know where else to look if I cant find anthing wrong with the setup. It wouldnt have anything to do with the computer would it?

Could the "Cold-Air" kit be so restrictive, that it is choking the engine to death, or better yet supplying so much air that the stock tune can't adjust properly?
If you have access to a hand held tuner I would say try that.

Yeah it does almost seem like the stock tune just cannot adjust properly for the air flow. But it doesnt make sense that it would run good for 2 days and then out of nowhere just run real rich and just want to die on me.
