How much should I expect to pay for a tune? 5° of knock at 11lbs full throttle on a 3.4 with headers 91 gas.

Yeah I made a thread not to long ago about tuning I've contacted a tuner with HP tuners he's just a very busy person hopefully it gets done soon. I never thought about it but I might just swap back my 3.5 how much more power will I be seeing with a 3.5 kr free then a 3.4 with 5kr at WOT. What does WOT mean anyway? I see people using it for full throttle. Yeah I'm on speed daddy headers.

if you get less or no KR with a 3.5 put that back on. less kr the stronger it is. when the pcm sees KR it pulls timing and the engine stops pulling as hard from it. this is the pcm trying to save the engine.

Yeah I'll go ahead and do that in the meantime. By the way have you dyno'd your car? I might go for a similar setup as you just wondering on the power.

no dyno for me. but its likely around a 50 hp gain from what others say those mods are worth.

did you clearance the firewall for the o2 sensor? if not your o2 could be hitting the firewall and causing the KR too.

wot= wide open throttle. definately recommend pulleying up if there is any kr. more than 2 degrees of kr and the engine will pull timing. last time I saw I had 7 degrees of kr, my pcm pulled like 8 degrees of timing. less timing advance = less power

when i had 8* of kr i was down to 6* of timing, down from 15* or timing at the time. but that craps over for me now lol

Wouldn't the check engine come on? I doubt its hitting though I'd have to check it out. Debating whether I should go with a cam or rockers. Staying at a 3.4, pump gas, non ic for a while. Just that one final mod

a cam is better, rockers are a bit easier to install.

if you didnt bash the fire wall in some your o2 is hitting. put the car in rev, tap the gas holding the brakes. you'll likely hear it bouncing off the fire wall, it goes tap tap tap. i bent my o2 from it hitting the firewall. and was getting 9* of kr from it.

I remember what we did was cut the thing where the o2 goes and welded it a bit more down before the cat.

ok, so the up stream o2 has been moved into a clear area already? if so pulley up. if the kr is less or gone, run that way till it gets tuned, or you get a canned tune.

a cam will make more power. you dont have to do an aggressive cam, I would do something like a VS or S1X. those cams do well on stock heads with 90 or 105 lb springs.

In one of my tuning manuals i read that in some applications each degree of knock can reduce hp by as much a 5hp. I think it was from my old lasota racing ls1 guide.

iirc its one degree of timing pulled per degree of KR. at least in the 3800 world. other cars maybe different.

and my car pretty much fell on its face when it had high KR. modded with a stock tune i had 4.3* and it still didnt give its all, now tuned it screams like a banshee lol

I started getting a noise for the last couple of weeks in reverse, and my dogbone mounts and bushing are shot, I guess this will be my issue.
