I had a 99 GT for almost 8 years it was my first car and I learned alot about the grand prixs and fell in love with it. After it was totaled, (some idiot pulling out in on coming traffic), I bought an 07 Dodge Charger SXT, great summer car, but I didnt feel great about driving a mint RWD I had pushing about 290hp in our Canadian winters so I recently picked up this white 2002 GTP about 2 weeks ago. The owner had a mint AMC Javelin in his garage so I figured it was a pretty reputable seller.

Well while I am pretty happy with what used to be my dream car while I owned the GT - It needs some TLC: Im finding when its super cold >-15 Celcius it is slow to turn over. Pictures also reveal some other spots that need addressing when it warms up. The rear passenger window doesnt work, heated seat wont warm up and absolute grim came from under the door rails and spoiler the first time I washed it. Im most concerned about the what looks to be oil coming from the supercharger (waiting for access to a garage to change both s/c oil and motor oil.) and a faint smell of gas in the car typically at idle. Ive also noticed very small drops of gasoline beneath the car in the snow, one colored pink (rad coolant???) and one colored yellow (gasoline). Its hard to get **** done when its cold outside and you have no garage so Im holding out until Spring until I can really clean her up.

It seems to run well and compared to the GT it is noticeably faster and pulls harder especially at WOT even with these heavy winter tires and rims. Have only thrown in a K&N Panel filter for now.

Look forward to using some of these great resources and maybe offering some advice

Welcome. I made the jump from GT to GTP also. You're gonna have fun when the roads dry up!

Gas leak first. If its at the rear, I'd guess line damage from changing a rusty filter. Or seal damage from a fuel pump service. If at the front, a leaking fuel rail or hose could burn it down so find and fix that first. Injector O-rings leaking can also give a gas smell... and fire.

Yellow could be brake fluid or varmint pee lol.

Dex Cool is more orange, red is trans fluid or possibly steering.

Hopefully the wet S/C is just because somebody made a mess topping off the oil.

Mine had a K&N panel filter in it when I got it. I put slots in the airbox the let the whine sound out. Theres a how-to, ha ha.

Enjoy the ride and ask away, just remember to use the search feature to see whats already been said on a given subject.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

I need to clean my garage out so I can use it to work on my GTP this spring as well! It's a disaster in there. But would be able to keep it in a garage, much better than sitting under trees...
