My 97 gtp at 207k axle's make a cracking noise when turning. I've driven it a lot less since the noise began and was a bit more easy on the peddle. I'm installing my headers tomorrow with a 3.4. Might as well replace the axles before they break. Should I go with the local autostore ones? I kind of want something a bit beefier that will hold abusement a bit more. Any suggestions?

I know some people get bad axles from auto parts stores but you could get a brand new GM axle and have the same exact issue. So to me it's a crapshoot either way.

That said, I've always bought new axles from napa and I've personally never had a bad one. We owned 3 ponitacs at one and did 5 axles between them with napa parts. I choose to save some money and new axles have warrantys from napa.

for stock autoparts store axles work just fine. if you really start pooring power to them they will fail. its just a matter of time. so will stockers but the general consensus is they last longer.
