I recently bought a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix 3800 2nd gen hoping to have a better mpg car than my truck. I used to have, several years ago, a 1997 Sunfire and really liked it. It got 33 mpg so I thought I would give another Pontiac a try. Hoping to get some much needed help on this forum.

Welcome, Spemb. I can attest to the horrible in town fuel mileage. Even with an N/A I'm lucky if I get 20 in town. On a two lane highway trip I can get about 28.

Totally N/A - Mods: 18" Mustang GT wheels, leather scented air fresheners, medallion hanging from rearview mirror, custom tool box holder in trunk, and air horns in place of the factory honkers.

you guys still get good city gas mileage. don't kid yourself, it's not a truck. or a CTSV.

ive seen mine move too lol my 77 gmc was worse tho. it dropped damn fast if you held it to the floor. that was a easy 6 mpg truck, but gas was 99 cents back then.

    Lmao (old)...

First car was 73' Pontiac Grand Am, yes, the original (it was 9 yrs old when I got it)... 400engine (cammed), TH400 trans, had 3.73's in rear, custom ehaust, and that Quadrojet Carb, omg... The secondary's were HUGE! He to be 3" (x2)... LoL

anyways, I distinctly remember, if I floored it, the gas gauge never returned to where it was... Hahahaha, like dumping gas out the window! 1/4 tank at connecting highways or beach channel drive and I got just 2 runs... Lolz. But oh that baby moved! : )

think I got around 10-12 mpg if I drove like a Granny!
