Why not just fix your range problem with your current auto start.

Sounds cheaper than buying a crappy aftermarket alarm/auto start system.

... there are no fixes.. you cant just make the factory remote start work from 2500 feet... also i like the 2 way display so i can be awy from my car and know the auto start is on, also it tells you if someone is breaking in.... unlike the factory..... so if anyone has any details on the viper alarm system and can help me out thanks

Viper alarms suck. I bought a car with a viper alarm once and it wouldn't shut the hell up (and the car wouldn't start, either). We eventually pulled it out, but that car's had electrical gremlins ever since.

Vipers don't suck, installs might suck, one unit might be faulty.. overall they are under Directed and very good.

I have a 5901 or whichever one has the one mile with the black and white two way remote. I installed it myself, soldered every connection and went the extra mile to ensure it would never be an issue. I enjoy having good range, it's not a mile though.

On your 05, likely you need an additional box or something to bypass the factory security system.

I just got a Compustar remote starter for my '04. It's my third Compustar and I love it.

Their base model is 1000', but I opted for the 2-way remote with 3000ft range option since I sometimes park in a cement garage pretty far away from my office. I also paid extra so it switches on the rear window defrost automatically (a huge plus on snowy days when I'm too lazy to scrape ice off the back window).

I do NOT like buying the cheapest option for car electronics - I have too many bad experiences when they go cuckoo after a few years, and by then the wiring is a mess and you can't figure out how to fix the thing. I will never buy a used car with cheap aftermarket electronics like that, they are just a mountain of problems waiting to happen.

Like Bob.. I hooked up the rear defroster too.
    Added in trunk pop
Used the siren just long enough to program it to the horn.

Car sounds like a stock alarm system because it honks the horn instead of chirping sirens. But then..I drive a 250K mile 15 year old Regal. No one wants it.. I wanted to start it from a mile away.
