    as you will be able to tell i am green and just askin ?? can i put on a 3.5 pulley without tuning ?if i did w/out tuning what should i expect in performance gain will i damage the motor 1999 grand prix gtp 130000 miles
    just askin

    do not do a pulley drop unless you install headers or a plog and down pipe. yes you can do it with out a tune.

    thanks i did read a post how to safely modify 3800 was very informative do shops do tuning ? what would i expect w/ headers and the 3.5 pulley can you hear the spark knock like old 350 1970s motors with the timing advanced to far?

    You wont hear it knocking, unless it was crazy bad.

    The computer will pull timing within milliseconds to try and stop any damage, but if it's enough knock and under the right condition the computer can only do so much and you'll still end up with a chipped piston. Only 100+ octane could really save you without exhaust mods.

    They knock from the factory, it's just motors/computers are calibrated in every single car.

    i say do the 3.5 pulley as the first mod. then you can do a new motor as the second mod.

    cause that knocking you cant hear or feel is doing this to your pistons.

    I did that ^ to my black car and it had a 3.5 pulley, headers, and a ported blower.
