I new to this site, but through Regalgs.org and W-body.com I found this site. I'm in the process of going through an L67 engine that I am swapping into my Intrigue. I love the W-body Grand Prix. I think it and the Intrigue are the best looking of all the w-bodys.

What year? HPT added support for Intrigues about six months to a year back.

Its a 1998 with the n/a 3.8. My girlfriends dad actually got me into them. He had one with the 3.5 and when it was time to buy her a car I insisted to him hers would be a 3.8. Me and her both have 1998 3.8, but mine is the gls. They only came with the 3.8 for 98/ and very few in 99.What is HPT?

It's a tuning program. What do you plan to tune with?

I am a little unsure at the moment. The gtp computer is the only w body with a similar bcm to the intrigue. So i might find one of those and get it tuned or learn and tune myself or ill find a way to tune my current pcm. I'm not really sure yet.

it wont run on a gtp pcm. you need the cars pcm tuned to be a 3800.

HTP being its got support would be the way to go if your gonna try yourself.

Holler when you get up to speed a little more. I have the file that a local used for his SC'd 98 intrigue.

exactly. he did a swap a ways back. so hes got a known working bin file for a 98. its either dhp, or a htp file. what one he used im unsure of. but hes got both those tuners, so 50/50 shot what file it is.

Cool I will keep in touch. I'd like to more about tuning. Maybe me and my friend will go into a tuner together hes building a sc'd monte carlo and is looking at anywhere between 450 and 525 for hp when he's done. This forum is awesome.

Hopefully a RWD monte carlo, a 3800 powered monte will never see that much hp.

That's what he thinks. He has almost 8 grand into the engine alone.(saved for like 4 years) I looked on HP Tuners website to verify if the intrigue wad supported and it wasn't listed.

    Found this.

And holy jesus, 8 grand. Coulda had 3 turbo setups on stock blocks by now lol. I just hope for his sake the motor was build correctly or else it will be a 100 mile motor and all that money wasted.

Sometime this summer is when he should have it all up and ready. I don't know the first thing about turning and where to start
    Turbo'd 3.8s are pretty insane!

Trust me.. Chris and Bill (HPT guys) added 98 Intrigue support. I have this confirmed. At the time of the SC'd intrigue, HPT was not available. The files I have are DHP, however HPT should read/write them just fine.

And Cam... if you want to see a high hp Monte 3800 look up John Poney on FB or Kawasaki something here. Car is ridiculous.

I can't believe it makes more torque than horsepower. He's right up there with zzp's highest power 3.8.

From statement from BillBoost37, the Monte owned by John Poney is one of nicest Monte's I have seen, and he does have a great setup. HP ride for sure. He lives near me and I have been lucky enough to help him out on his Monte.
