    Hello -

Just chiming in as a new member, I've been lurking for a long time, but I decided to get serious about fixing my '99 GT and making it into a more respectable daily driver. I got it on the cheap because it smacked a couple deer in it's time, but still keeps running like a champ.

I'm looking at a 2000 model with a bad transmission and just bought a good '97 with no title so it's my parts car. If all goes well I hope to end up with 2 nice cars by the end of the month (with some help from the good people of this site).

I'm hoping to learn some info about doing a transmission swap and also help out some other folks on here looking for parts too. Needless to say with 3 cars I'll have more than plenty to go around.

Just remember that some of the parts on the 97 are going to be different than the 99 and the 2000. You won't be able to use the trans out of the 97 especially if its a GT or SE.

Bummer, I was hoping to use the transmission from the '97 GT and swap it into the 2000, I guess I can scrap those plans. Thanks for the info.

Yeah 97 GT and SE use the 4t60 which is vacuum actuated. 98+ use the 4t65e which is electric.
