I am new to this site. I own a 2005 Grand Prix GT and really love the car...but the electrical issues are driving me nuts. My hood ajar light comes on when the headlamps turn on, but here's the thing...I can get the light to go out by turning the brights on or turning the fog lights on. The signal lights often activate it as well. I have replaced the hood latch and sensor, and was told it could possibly be my signal light lever. Changed that today and still does the same thing. Anyone out there have a similar issue?? Hope I don't have to start changing wiring harnesses!!

I would start by removing both the battery cables and cleaning not only the battery but the cable ends themselves and then make sure they go back on tightly. A lot of strange issues can be caused by loose/dirty cables.

Tried the battery cables but unfortunately that didn't work. I did go with that theory that there is possibly a grounding issue in the car. I traced the wires to each headlight/signal assembly and noticed that there is a ground wire that attaches to the frame. I took it off as it looked a bit rusty, cleaned it up, and low and behold, I was able to mess around with my message centre display. Reattached it and the car is fixed. Couldn't be happier as I do love this car. If anyone is having a message centre display problem, this is something definitely worth trying.
