Hey my name's David. I'm a new member here after owning my grand prix since 2011. I'll be trolling around for some maintenance questions. I'm a member of several other forums such as; R3VLIMITED, CORRAL.NET, and 190R3V.

About my car:
Very basic...it's a 2006 pontiac grand prix base model. It currently has 177,000 miles on it (you wouldn't know by looking at it) and still runs like new. I financed it several years ago and plan on driving this thing into the ground. From what I researched, you can get a lot of life out of the 3800 series.

I'm having an issue with my check engine light being on and it's preventing me from passing emissions. Since I can't find the problem my car is now out of it's registration. I had the code checked at an O' Reilly's and it pulled up something with the emissions systems (AIR pump, solenoid, etc).

Well with my research I found that, because of the location of the AIR pump, usually it is the issue for the code I read being thrown. However, I just replaced it a couple of days ago and after 3-4 cold starts the check engine light came back on. Before spending another $150 or so on a new solenoid, what else should I check? Hoses were good, fuses were good, electrical connectors and their pins were good, fuses were good. Is there anything I'm missing or should I jump to the AIR pump check valve replacement?

Thanks all and hope to get a lot of information from this forum to keep my DD going for a long time!
