Hey guys to start I'm from Maine and I bought this car about a week ago. From what research I've done and past cars I've modded I started with "Stg 0" fuel filter, oil change, plugs, wires and a new coil. I bought the car with a check engine light bad fuel cap and a misfire on #4 cyl.
Haven't really done much mod wise except 3" catless dp home brew intake and I flipped the dog bones.

    I have a few questions.
    - still say #4 cyl misfires but not all the time just randomly
-any reviews on the zzp trans shift kit I have one and not sure if my car being a tap shift it will work or how to use it
-my HUD doesn't work and I can't get the plastic off the dash to get at the HUD can anyone help me out

I'm sure I have more but this is all I can think of at this time.

    Hey new guy.. Welcome

For the #4 make sure it's not touching the wiring for the O2.
On your catless pipe, your car might dump fuel if the rear O2 keeps checking to see why the cat isn't functioning.
ZZP plastic spacer shift kit? I'd prefer buying metal spacers at Home Depot or Tractor supply for $3 total.
HUD: that plastic is a real pain... I've done it three times and only one time did it come off w/o breaking. Warm summer day is the trick. Oh.. and a lot of swearing.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thanks or the quick reply!! I'll have to zip tie the plug wire. Yes it's plastic shim kit. I haven't had any fuel issues that I know of. The car does have a stumble sometimes so I cleaned the maf and it helped a little but not enough to say it's fixed.

Another issue is I need new front strut mounts but can't seem to find any for the handling package w/ 17s.

Doesn't matter what size rims you have all the struts will fit.. Now your going to want either comp g struts (FE3) or go with some replacement kyb excel or gr2. Check on Rockauto. The HUD trim you probably won't get it off without breaking it, it's really brittle from all the years in the sun.. But a replacement trim piece is like $70-80 from the dealer if worse comes to worse.

I prefer the transgo shift kit, have it two of the 3 pontiacs we own at this house.

As for the misfire, bill's idea is good. But you can also try lowering the plug gap slightly, I like .050 to .055 instead of .060. You could move a coil pack and see if the misfire moves cylinders.

Also what brand of plugs did you install? Some brands or types of plugs will just be a problem right out of the box. Like no platiumn plugs or those junk E3 plugs.

Used Autolite 104s gapped at .55 I researched before I did my Stg 0 or all the maintenance. The coil is brand new so I don't see how changing the coil again would help. If it pops the code again I'm going to take the coil out and check for any corrosion or bad connections. Will the shift kit effects car having the tap shift option? I also forgot to mention I have a 180 thermo

If you ran the seafoam too fast it's possible you fouled out a plug. I'd pull them and check the condition of them.

Unless you are running a smaller pulley your plugs are too cold and so is the tstat. Since your car is stock go back to the 195* tstat and get some stock plugs either copper or iridium.

Thought the 104s and Tstat were good maintenance?

If your stock and untuned it would be better to get stock heat range plugs and tstat temp.

    I'm planning a tune/pulley soon.

Another issue I put in the 180 Tstat and now the car runs a little over half mark. Should run half way between 1/4 and 1/2 right. I had a scan gauge on it and it rear it was running around 201. That's when I shut the car down. I tried bleeding the system today but it is still doing it. Any truck to bleeding it that I need or should know of?

I would do a coolant flush, and switch to the green stuff.
