Hey Guys, I just recently joined and look forward to gaining and possibly giving some knowledge to the forum. I just recently purchased a 2007 GT with the supercharger. It's a nice ride and I'll be driving it about 450 miles a day delivering narcotics. It's made 6 trips so far and I like it. The performance is nice and I really like the torque.......for a six-banger.My previous car was a 2003 Monte Carlo SS and I had 360,000 miles on the old 3800 and it was still quiet and had the same oil pressure as new.
BTW, where's the best place to put an oil pressure gauge on these Grand Prix's and why do some of you folks make fun of white cars? I'm a retired electrical engineer and worked as the Plant engineer for a steel mill and then as a consultant for a bunch of steel mills. I was in the Marines from 1965 until 1986 and then from 1990 to 1991. I had a few skills that they thought would be useful.Mainly digging latrines and getting boot Marines to do push-ups.
My other cars are a mildly custom 1995 Impala SS that does the quarter in 11.78 @116. I drive it on the street and it gets around 20 MPG on a long trip. She's my baby. I also have a 1995 Vette convertible that I'm building an engine for right now. I still have the stock engine in her and enjoy the 75-80 degree cruising. That's my nighttime cruiser and also goes on vacation with me. In the winter I have a big ole' Tahoe that doesn't get any mileage at all. Really, I think it's less than zero.
I build LT1 engines for some people and have a good tune that works well with spec engines. I've never been inside a 3800 but then again, I've never needed to. Cars are my hobby and I enjoy doing my own work on them. The Monte and I became real good friends and I think I carressed nearly every inch of her at one time or another.
Thanks for having such an informative forum and I guess I'll see you guys around.
