Hi guys, so ill try to keep this simple. Purchased an 04 comp g w 84k miles on it in January been lurking on here ever since. So far the car has been a little bit of a handful with some of the "standard GM stuff" leaky sunroof, radio lights burnt out, wheel speed sensors, blower motor relay stuck, (runs constantly have to dc bat atm),valve covers leak, atf leak somewhere(red puddles in snow after long idle) power steering pump noise (fluid full),missing hud/defrost dash panel, rear defrost used to not work but that glass shattered over night last week so its replaced now. This is my second GTP my first having been a 98 with a little over 170k on it and it did not give me nearly the issues this has. I bought this car to be our our main vehicle/my dd, (1st baby on the way and what not) well now that the roads have cleared up more Im noticing sluggish shifts so changed filter/fluid went to new dex maxlife still having slow shifts. Im wondering if the shifts are so slow because its having to relearn shift data everytime i drive the car or if the trans is dying? fluid was dark not burnt, typical "mud" on the magnet few other small shavings/flakes in the pan (more than i have seen in other vehicles in the past by no means a lot). I fear that Im simply feeling overwhelmed with the abundance of stuff on my plate not the car itself and would like a little bit of an outside persepective on it and where to start/what direction to go with it first. Ill make sure I get some photos up for everyone to take a look at. Thanks a bunch for making this sight what it is.

Step one is to make it so you don't have to disconnect the battery all the time, so try to get that blower motor situation taken care of. Once you get that done, see if the trans will relearn where it's supposed to be. There is a shift kit you can put in that's really easy to do that'll firm up the shifts, but if it's already past that point, it may be trans time. The problem with buying a GTP or Comp G or whatever is they typically will see some abuse at some point in their lives which is gonna take out some transmissions. Hopefully, it's not that, but just be aware. As for the other stuff, just keep doing the stupid little fixes it requires and you'll be fine. Once the little stuff is out of the way, you'll find it's going to be a great vehicle.

I agree. Every time you disconnect the battery, your car has to relearn itself. Get that relay fixed. Where is the sunroof leaking at? What makes you think the wheel sensors are bad? Is your abs kicking on randomly at slow speeds? Valve covers are an easy fix. Are you sure you are leaking atf? Are you sure it's not maybe dexcool? What noise is the power steering pump making?

It disables abs/stability and traction control at startup, relatively certain this is a connection issue not bad wheel hubs. I noticed that the sensor in question has no wire looming on it so its been messed with possibly replaced already at some point. The sunroof leaks through the dome light, hoping this is just frozen drains but its been warmer lately and still leaking so ill have to dig into that later. Power steering is a constant light whine that increases with steering input. Possibilty that yes it may be dexcool and not atf.

The leak isn't from the sunroof but from the Onstar Antenna.

Here is a link with some pics to get at the antenna. I used RTV under onstar gasket on top of roof and pumped a jizz full in the hole for the threaded rod.
    No leak 6 years later.

Check your Trans oil cooler lines for the atf leak. Mine are seeping at the moment.

No link spazz. Update after about 75 miles on trans, its still relearning imagine that. I need to replace the blower motor resistor still what is the difference between auto climate Control and not? How to make sure i have the right one, also the capacitor gm has said to add does any one know if the dealers stock these or what the specs are on it to get one? The seepage must have been the pan gasket BC i haven't noticed them since the fluid change. More updates after more mileage
