Last night my daughter's Grand Prix GT was squealing horrible and smelled like burning rubber. The tensionor pulley seized up and the belt was super hot. I purchased a new pulley (just replacing the pulley-not assembly) at Advance Auto but have a few questions on replacing it.

The bolt is reverse threaded right?
Do I need a special tool (other than 15mm socket) to remove the bolt without messing up the assembly?
Any other advice you can give is much appreciated!

yes, that one tentioner pulley under the alt is reverse threads. they take a bit of force to break free, i used a short pipe i have on the end of my ratchet, it popped off with a little effort.

its a bad feeling when you turn the ratchet on the bolt cause it pushes the tensioner all the way to its limit, so i kinda held it back with my other hand when i popped the bolt free. did this thinking it would keep it from breaking. this worked out for the sc tensioner, ill see how it goes for the accessory belt tomorrow for my car. damn parts just sitting there for 2 days now. but the car is also parked. so its like who cares till i need to drive it.

Ok, I used a pipe and it came offer rather easily. Changed the pulley and everything is good. The bearings seized up pretty good....waiting for the next issue.
