Hello all, my name is Ian and im back in the GP Community!

Rewinding back to 2012. My uncle gave me his 2000 GTP Silver fully equipped. He bought it brand new, i still have the old registration card that says 2 mi. (: He gave it to me at 180k miles. It required a full tune up. So i gave it one and did a Gen V swap with sd headers. I bought all the parts from a fellow ClubGP owner that resided in the Compton area. I literally i found all the parts i needed for my car in compton. Car is very common there and every other week there would be a GP GTP with SLP Headers, or AGX struts, etc, the whole package, except the only thing would be bad is the wheels haha. Anyways at that time i was taking 10 units at a community college and full time mechanic. Since i was very financially stable at that time i bought a 2006 Infiniti G35. I bought the G35 right before my pony's transmission took a dump on me. I started using the G35 as a daily while the transmission was rebuilt. I got an upgraded valve body and used all new parts, no need for upgraded tranny because the mods were pretty minimal. Fast forward about a year. I sold my G35 for an FX35 and financed a Nissan 370z 40th Anniversary.

June 2013 I sold my GP to that fellow ClubGP forum member, i know im gonna get alot of bad remarks about it but i sold it for 1200. The thing about it was it had codes that couldn't go away. Maf Sensor Circuit Open, ABS, etc. At the time i couldn't figure it out yet i did not appropriately diagnose it. I had my reasons but cant justify them now. I originally wanted 3500 but idk why i sold it that low. I guess the sentimental value i had with the car had disappeared. Very bad on my part.

September 2013. My gfs car was totalled 2010 Honda Civic EX. A driver in front of her brake checked her and when she braked the car dipped so low it missed the reinforcement bar causing well imagine it. Reinforcement bar against all the plastic pieces of the Civic. Pretty shocked up, i decided lets go on a day out few days later. I took the 370z out and there was a drunk driver on the freeway;swerving and high beaming traffic. I pulled up next to him and he almost rammed me off the road. I called 911 and gave them license plate number and so forth. The operator wanted me to pull over so i did. Gave them as much info as possible and we were pretty scared but its not gonna stop our day. Hopping back on from the shoulder cruising about 55 the i was joining another freeway and the on ramp goes from 2 lanes to one lane but before that is a 35 mph stated turn. A truck exceeding even the "35mph posted turn was in the left lane, i was on the lane that is gonna be converted into the lane hes in. Right before the lane i slowed down to get behind him, he slows down, i braked very hard and he locked his tires just as i braked very hard. I then speed up because he cant stay with me and when he hears me change gears you hear something spool up and he takes off as soon as he does that, i look ahead and there is a freakin light pole on the lane im in that goes into his lane, we both braked hard but i got ahead of him so going into his lane his spun me out and i hit the light pole laying on the freeway, and i went up the embankment. i suffered arm injury because the air bag on the seat but my gf was completely fine. After handling the insurance for months and which i still am right now, car is fixed on sale.

Preset Day. On the 19th, i get a letter stating my license is suspended because of registration of Pontiac and it was impounded. Its like what really? the buyer never followed or had no intentions to registering the car under his name. I am in process of getting it out but unaware of cars condition. I hope its still where it is now. The Impound stated the car is fully intact and still contains all parts but i dont think that person actually looked into the car. So i guess i never left the scene haha. I honestly missed that car alot. Even after driving Evo's, my 370z, M45, the pontiac just has that feel to it. Sure its not a V8 but the economical sedan with a supercharger makes it exciting and a sleeper. I plan on doing a GTX conversion when i get the car back regardless or not car is functional. My intentions are what right now? Im looking for a 91-92 E30 Convertible haha. Pretty crazy thing going around.

    Pretty crazy story..

Just for future reference: There's typically a part of the title you tear off and mail to the state when you sign it over. This way you state you sold the car, and whether or not someone else registers it immediately, you are no longer responsible.

It's not like that in every state. I know PA and WV are not like that. You just go to a notary and sign the title over.

May not be the process I described in every state, but the important thing is there is always a way to notify the state the vehicle is sold, and release you of liability.

There actually isn't a way in all states.

Hell just a few months back one of my mom's co -workers had traded in a vehicle with a dealership here in PA and then a few weeks later got a call from the New Jersey State Police saying the vehicle was found wrecked and abandoned and the trace they did showed they were still the registered owners.

For PA it depends. If you are selling to/buying from another PA resident you need to go to a notary. When I bought my Stealth I bought it from a guy in WV. All he had to do was sign the title on the seller part and give it to me.

The only way to protect yourself is to make up a bill of sale when doing a person to person sale. It's better if it is notarized, but it isn't necessary. If you make two copies and you and the buyer sign both copies you have evidence in case anything goes wrong, but there is nothing to send to the state to say you sold the car.
