So I'm gonna go with Speed Daddy headers and I know it's basically a prerequisite to get a flex pipe (due to the common leaks) and band clamps along with the headers themselves. The headers I am looking at say "Inlet/Outlet: 1.50"/3.00"". Does this mean I should get two 3" and two 1.50" band clamps? Also, how do I know what kind of flex pipe to get? The headers also come with a down pipe, do I need anything to go along with that too? I'm just trying to gain as much knowledge as possible about these headers. Any answers would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Well the 3" is 6" long which is the same size as the one that comes on the SDs so it'll be easier to go with that size or else your going to have to have some piping added on.

It's easier to invest the money right off the back and replace it or go through the hassle of it leaking and then having to pull the header back off and get it welded. Been there done that.

Keep it mind that you would have to figure out if your going to run a cat or not and factor that it as well as purchasing a o2 extentsion.

What exactly did you do? Can you just use the stock cat? Is the o2 extension also necessary?

You need the extension. I just run catless. A stock cat Won't work

Depends on what state your in and if there's emissions then you'll need to have a car if not you can either go catless or get a Magnaflow universal cat and have it welded in place if the test pipe that comes with the SD's and yet you'll need a extension unless you have another o2 bung welded in closer.

Ok and just a few more painstaking questions what size magnaflow cat and o2 extension will fit an '02 gtp s/c. Even though the magnaflow cats are universal some say 3" and others say 2.5"

The test pipe is about 11"-12" so try to find one around that size. You also need a 3" inlet/outlet one.

So you rather use the stock flex and take a 50-50 chance of it leaking right away or overtime then have to pull the rear header again and have it fixed or just spend the extra money and replace it right away and not have to worry about it...

Honestly, I haven't seen the stock flex leak on SD's. What I have seen is people thinking there's a leak because a single wall flex is louder sounding than a dual. This is all based on thickness of material. SLP's were known for that same tick, I ran mine with some header wrap over the flex to quiet it down. Took nearly 3 years for it so rot/break.

My first month, I swore I had a leak and each time I got under to check it.. twas a loud flex and nothing more.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
