Just traded my 95 V6 mustang vert for a 98 GTP. Flame red, 117k. Car runs well, supposedly has a rebuilt charger. No real problems other than degradation of the interior, a beige front fender and a beat up hood. Has 17" Mustang 5 spoke wheels as well.

Plans include a tune, pulley, ubend delete, and some interior restoration as well as replacing the hood and fender. Luckily I'm about an hour from intense where I plan to get the performance parts.

So far i've added a GM strut tower brace, and removed a large amount of unnecessary car audio. I fixed the HUD as well.

Lots of automotive background. Not a lot of GM (had a 63 impala 2dr hardtop in HS circa 2000) as I am a Volkswagen enthusiast.

Glad to be here, seems like one of the better W body forums. Thanks for having me.

If those are your plans then get ready to break something. If you plan on dropping a pulley size then headers are a must. Or a plog and dp, although headers are a better bang for buck.

ILoveGM, opinions like yours are exactly why I joined....can you explain please?

DS- What is a canned tune? I'm very familiar with CW, LOTS of family up there.

He might be referring to a "shelf tune". Basically copying a tune from ZZP, Intense, or wbody store. It's a basic tune similar to the $125 PCM you get from the vendor. Although I have never heard it called a "canned tune" before. Typically a canned tune would be one that is locked from a vendor.

The other guy, as far as telling you a plog and dp or headers is because of the KR that typically will happen when you push too much boost with little mods. Although many have run a u-bend delete, intake, and 3.4 pulley for years with NO issues. However, it is typically recommended to do some better exhaust mods to allow the engine to breathe. If you are going to mod you might as well maximize the engines potential.

What kind of power are you looking for? What do you want to run in the 1/4? What are your goals with the car?

the end goal for the car is nothing more than a fun daily. It's ok now, as is...but would be a lot more fun with a little more power.

From what I understand, something like ZZP's stainless front "exhaust manifold" would do wonders with a tune, pulley and u bend delete?

I think I'd worry about matching exterior paint before doing any mods.

    Don't be "that guy".

ZZP's powerlog is a good product and helps with flow, but also requires some kind of other exhaust mod. A u-bend could possibly do enough along with the plog to run knock free or almost knock free, but headers are just as cheap if not cheaper. However, installing the plog and whatever you do in the dp area requires a bit less labor.

How much wheel horsepower is a fun daily? If you are only wanting to moderately mod the car with ease of installation then you might consider:

    plog
    dp
    intake
    3.4 pulley
    1.9 rockers
    shelf tune

I forgot to add that it does have an intake, albeit a cheap cone filter on a polished pipe.
