Doubt it. GM replaced them with plastic gaskets at one point, so it could have been the 2nd set of plastic gaskets.

being im the 8 th owner so who knows what was ever done to it, never know the gasket could have been done in the past, but if they were they used plastic again.

what came out. every bolt leaked too. dry as a bone since i changed them.

Thanks guys I'm going to fix it and keep it I am too attached to let it go, the reason I got discouraged for a minute there is because today when I got to school and parked it I went to class then got called to the office because they thought my car was on fire and security demanded me open the hood so I did they said ok its just steam, well of course everyone heard seen

Or found out about the kids car that was apparently on fire in the parking lot(stupid high school gossip) now everyone keeps joking saying pontiac went down for a reason buy a ford( I live out in farm community and yes its ford country out here) or anything that ugly needs to be burned or the best one that really made me flip you should just go drive it up on the scale and park it at the scrap yard well I love my car so most it I just laughed off and then told most people to go screw themselves

Seriously? That's horrible... If only they knew.

So.... are you going to replace the LIM gaskets or what? lol (I know the thread sealant has failed on the bolts, but the LIM gasket will fail soon, and the bolts are part of the job)

Yes I am going to replace it otherwise I will regret getting rid of it andI could honestly care less what people say especially considering none of them bought their cars and they all have money I am parked in between a 07 mustang gt and a 5 series so I just keep reminding myself I earned my car it wasnt handed to me, but do I have to replace the bolts completely or just put new sealant on them and in that case what it bolt sealant what is it called?..... Is it like thread lock?

I've pulled stock gaskets as high up as 200ish. They deform and look like crap..but actually leak and cause issues...that's not quite as common as how bad they look.

I use white teflon paste on the threads of cleaned LIM bolts. GM at some point put thread locker in the FSM, but all it's doing is sealing the bolts. I'd prefer the proper tool. As well with the original plastic only gasket the torque spec was 11ft lbs, when steel inserts were added around the bolt holes the spec moved up to 13ft lbs. I never looked for a new spec, however when I do aluminum gaskets.... 15ft lbs automatically. I've never had one leak.

I learned about the bolts from cleaning them and having them leak when assembled clean. Buddy is a tech at a GM dealership and they all use the pipe sealant with PTFE, aka liquid teflon. So yes..I clean all the bolts and use that on all the jobs I do.

It's a shame you are a million miles from 06082, I'd give you a hand...just to prove your buddies wrong.

Well I might honestly take you up on that offer in march when I get my basic license and can drive out of state because you sound experienced with these and I just wanna get this problem solved and start really enjoying the car instead of worrying about running out of coolant whille driving or smoking at stops and having people tell me are you ok? So although a far ride just to have this car in top shape again would be worth it otherwise I might try to tackle it or ask my one friend who is ase do it with me its just im not sure how knowledgable he is on lim gaskets im gonna also rent a pressure tester to check if its definitely a lim gasket or another leak

It doesn't take an ASE to be good at these. We could easily give you tips/tricks to make it an easy job. As for knowledgeable.. well.. I've seen a few of these cars.
