If you don't have a digital push button climate control but have a couple of dials then its manual. You will be suprised how much bigger and hearvy the replacement is.
Yes I got the dual with the led LCD saying temp. So that's automatic?
Yes, and you should have the ability to set your desired temp as well.
Oh **** lol the auto cost like $150
Manual version is around $100. You can try reputable online sources for less but avoid getting used one. This part fails very easily and you don't want an used part costing about $75 that breaks down in a couple months.
Did the old resistor look like it's been wet? Check the rain guard above the cabin air filter, it's known to come loose and letting water leak inside, ruining the resistor and/or blower motor.
Yea I gota take it apart I'm just Getn my stuff first. Where yu finding $100?
We carry new blower motor resistors on our website for your Grand Prix. Here's a link to them on our site if you would like to see what we have. There's free shipping in the lower 48 states. Grand Prix Blower Motor Resistor
Ya the $150 one.
Man oh man I bought one for my 97 from the dealer for like $50 but that was in like 2000. Time to hit the pull and pay junkyard and get it for $5
Well mine had manual AC though. My 99 has a issue right now where the drivers' side is warmer than the passenger. I am sooo looking forward to working on the HVAC system. GM has to be the worst heat and AC of anyone else. I have spent tons on my Silverado SS and it has another bad actuator.
I like manual just easier. Lol I ain't buying em from junk yard
What's wrong with the junkyard? I would rather spend $5 on it there and spend the $145 I saved on go fast stuff. I can tell you that a lot of time the aftermarket parts you buy are not half the quality of the original ones. I guess next time I go I will pick some up and sell them. Of course I will have to wait until I have selling privileges as it seems the Gestapo here does not obey their own rules.
Some parts I just buy used like brakes for example. Idk just how I am. But I do go to junk yard a lot.
The ones in junkyard might not last long. But then again, if you consider how long you plan to keep the car, getting one (or 3 in case one fails) from the junkyard would save a lot.
If you plan to keep the car for a long time and don't want to dive into your HVAC system every few months to replace blown resistor, a new one should last long enough.
Right. And can some one explain how the blower leaks water from the wiper cowl? I remember reading something. I ask cuz mine leaks sometimes when it rains. The passanger floor board that is
