So I didn't do much digging, apologies now if this is buried somewhere deep in the forum.

    My question is this:

is there a compatibility list for the different makes/models?

I get that parts from a '02 GTP will probably fit another '02, but what if I go to the junkyard, grab the HVAC control unit from the salvaged '05 GT? Lets say my fuel tank leaks, can I grab one from any old GP and have it fit? What about body panels and the like? Could I make a Franken-prix with 10 years worth of interchanged parts?

In other words, for the cheap and/or junkyard junkies, what will/won't fit between the 97-03 and 04+ style?

since I don't have any specific parts in mind at the moment, maybe people can share their mishaps and successes?

    thanks for the time!

    Ced

Your best bet would be to ask. I don't know of an actual list. Many members do know what works and what doesn't. For example, I have the rear brakes from an 08 on my 00 Regal. Same W body platform (Regal and GP) and the 08 caliper has the ebrake built in vs having it inside the disc.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

That kind of stuff is good to know. Maybe I want to go cheap on upgrading my brakes, so I look for a w-body something with bigger/better brakes.

how about interior stuff? Would front seat on an 08 work in my 02?

Yep, seats from the 04+ will bolt right in to your 02.

They're a HUGE improvement over the crappy 97-03 seats.

    on that note:
the heated, motorized driver's seat in my 2002, even at its lowest, makes my head hit the ceiling...any chance the other seat sits lower? I wouldnt even mind changing to an lower trim package seat if I could sit up strait without hair gel gooping up the ceiling!

I'm not sure, but I would say headroom would be slightly less. The 04+ seats sit up higher, plus they have more padding in the bottom cushion.

Cut out the hair gel and you'll prolly be alright

    Dang, its already short enough!!!

Okay, on the the next question then:

Would the AC control unit for a 04+ function correctly in my '02 GTP. (In particular the digital dual climate one). I've seen the part available on RockAuto, and most of the junkyards around here have newer model GP's.

They are different i'm pretty sure. You can't put a digital one in a manual one.

this in regards to putting a dual climate ac control unit from 04+ in my 2002 GTP

Can anyone confirm/deny this? There are a few digital ones at the scrapyard that I'd like to see about

No u cannot put an 04+ manual or auto hvac in a pre 04 vehicle.

Going from 04 Manual to auto is Damn near impossible. Currently working on that one myself.
