Hello everyone I have been reading posts from this forum for a little over a year and i finally decided i should just join the forum since this one seems to be the best out there for 3800 vehicles. I have owned my 02 gtp for almost two years and it has never treated me wrong thus far. the information here has helped me with minor problems i.e swaybar and helped me troubleshoot a few problems that saved me hundreds.

I finished up with all the gaskets and when I cranked it I found out my rear valve cover was leaking cause my gasket wasn't seated properly. Also my vacuum line on my by pass valve is broken and I can't find one anywhere does anyone no where I can find the little u shaped vacuum line? Does gm carry that? Or do I have to find one at a junkyard. Also when I cranked her up it was idling around 1500 rpms does anyone know why it would do that? Would it be cause from the vacuum line being loose or is it from the valve cover gasket being loose? Or could it be something else?

A vacuum leak can cause the weird engine idle.

The u-shaped vacuum line part is likely a dealership item, but just get some vacuum hose and make one because thats cheaper.

Doulbe check that everything is plugged in and where it should be. And don't forget to do an oil change right after you get the car running, you don't want to go far on that oil as is might have coolant in it.

Yea I tried making a vacuum line to fit but it failed right away I'm just going to go to dealer. I dumped the oil and coolant right away but thanks for the reminder.

I figured it out it was the darn EGR was leaking I tightened it down real good and that fixed the hard idling but its still leaking a tad bit though so I think I'm going to put a little rtv around it to stop the leaking until I break it down again.
