Hi Everyone,

I have a 2007 grand prix and we have traveled some miles down the highways nearly 147000 so far and still runs pretty great. Leaves the 4 cylinders behind,, . I've overcome the issue of the lights going off randomly, the gas cap needing to be replaced. I now have an issue I haven't found any post for and I'm nervous this one might cost me some mega money. I don't like to pioneer in this arena. I would much rather read where someone else conquered it and has the remedy to prescribe. How ever here is the issue. My head lights come on when the car is off. I did try a new relay (I would tell you which one but the book is in the car at the shop). Although the new relay looked NEARLY identical once installed the auto lamps wouldn't come on at all. Did I mention it was the auto lamps. Anyway I took it straight back in and they gave me my money back. Put the old one back in and for a couple weeks it didn't happen. I woke up one morning and the battery was dead. Took it to the shop and they replaced the battery. I noted to them that the battery gave no warning of losing any power (but in their defense the battery was well over 4 years old). Anyway problem seemed to have been corrected although I did notice the charge on the battery fluctuating any where from 14.13 all the way down to 12.78 approx. I never noticed it doing that before with the old battery. Course I didn't have the read out on it all the time, I just recall over 4+ years of scrolling thru that readout it never was below 14.35. I questioned the alternator but I was assured after testing it was just the battery. Two weeks later the battery is dead again and the car is in the shop. They literally are waiting to see the lights come on and will do some kind of amp testing. This is all with the assumption the lights came on and ran the battery down. In the mean time I don't want to have the rental car more than one week because for one its embarrassing (it's a frigging ford focus < notice it deserves no caps), and two its costing me money. So I'm throwing it out there in case someone has already dealt with it or might know better what to do as opposed to waiting on my car to get an attitude and turn on its lights at random when not started.
