Bought my first Grand Prix (1997 GT) in 1998. Put close to 280K miles on it before I finally had to let it go. Replaced it with a 2005 GT. I am thinking this one was a special order because, when it came to options, they apparently checked the box marked "all of the above". It is loaded and looks very nice. I am thinking about playing with this car a little. (It may not be a '63 Chevy Super Sport with a 409 like my teen rod but I still think it could be a lot of fun.) I fixed all the basic mechanical stuff right away (manifold gasket, serpentine belt, tie rods, tune up, etc) and now I am looking for ways to "improve" it and I think this forum may prove helpful in that area. First up is the exhaust system. It needs mufflers so I am thinking about a "cat back" kit (if one exists for a GT) so I will post a thread on that if I can't find one on the board. Next up will be the suspension. The Grand Prix is a sport/luxury car but the suspension has always favored the luxury end more than I would like. Hope to push that more towards the sport/performance end of the bar. After that might be cold air intake kit - beefed up brakes - and who knows what else. Might be fun to see what can be done with a sharp looking car powered by a hard to kill six-banger. Any ideas let me know. Don't have a fortune to spend (or would be posting on some other board) but have a little to play with.
